Snarky remarks aside, I kind of get the purists being pissed about it.

However, schmoopie is a Mustang fan and I wanted an electric vehicle FOREVER. The fact this exists was one of the only ways I would get my way.  (If MINI made a 4 door all eletric, that would be the other way)

I get it, but purists are always going to find some reason to be pissed.

A Mustang with an electric engine isn't blasphemy, it's progress. Two things that are often confused.

Agreed, but the pounding that the Ruble is taking is going to have an effect.

I wouldn't be shocked if either

1. Putin creating his own currency. I suggest the Putees. Because it's a funny word.

2. Putin tries pegging the Ruble to the Yuan. Which effectively pegs it to the Dollar without the headline.

It's also irrelevant since oil and gas is traded in USD. There's no escaping the reserve currency of the world.

I amended my post..... I'll bet dozens of dollars if this was a two door there would be a lot less resistance.

Hell, electric vehicles can have balls too.  The Model Y Plaid has 1000 horsepower for Peters sake.

It would be, but I think it'd be hilarious if Putee pegs it to the Yuan because he'd be cucked by two world powers at the same time.

Electric cars have torque in reserve.

If you like speed and performance there's no contest between a modern electric and IC.

If you enjoy the performative aspect of a big block, yeah you're going to miss out because electrics are basically killer sleepers.

I really hate it when I agree with TEW on stuff outside of brown liquor and the Eagles.

Eagles —> Brown Liquor —> Nuclear War

Its a natural progression.

I love the insane acceleration of my car. I can't see going back to a gas car ever again.

Why would the U.S. finance biological research in Ukraine? What are the chances US/Ukraine was working on gain of function?

U.S. propaganda outlets are mum, of course. Except to assure us that any biological attack in Ukraine has to be the work of Russia.

My problem with electrics is how heavy they are. Really, cars in general these days.

Nothing is nimble any more. Everything is big and heavy. Like, yeah, Teslas have crazy acceleration and good grip, but it’s not really a fun car to drive IMO. Give me a three peddle 90’s M3 or M5 over a Tesla any day for pure driving fun.

Try a Taycan.

I plan to. I trust Porsche to make a great enthusiast car.

Tesla kind of put me off though. Cheap finishing and no soul.

The big problem with Tesla, and any other new car maker, is that they have not learned what Ford, GM, et al, learned through decades of car making.

Fit and finish.

Turn off the radio in a year old Tesla, and enjoy the rattles.

Wife has a Model S, which to me was just a Camry. I trusted Porsche to make a Porsche and get it right...and I wasn't disappointed. Got a turbo back in 2020. Love it.

Was it the S that Musk himself admitted they rushed to get as many out as possible and the quality dropped?

Edit: No, it was the 3

Now, would you look at that....gasoline futures down $0.43/gallon today.

We finally got the steering back together, replaced all the gas line that could be replaced.

Looking forward to a nice day to see what the 74hp of the 1600 Super Sport engine will do for us.

My friend's 1956 356A, bought new by his grandfather.

Yeah...good luck with that guys. That will work out as well as the Commanders trading for Carson...

the no soul part is what rings for me. being a software engineer at heart you'd think this would not be a barrier, and I'm very much a utility over form kind of guy for the most part.

but goddamnit I need a little soul. if only so I can lord it over the "more poor than me" peasants.

 I get that, but the Russia-China thing is interesting. because no way Putee wants to be a vassal state of China, but China at this stage probably would put its ego on the backburner temporarily to make Russia for all intents and purposes a vassal state without the public declaration.

(even though we'd all know that Xi is banging Putee up the arse seconds after every public appearance)

What a world

It’s pretty awesome to own multiple cars right now though… used cars selling for nearly as much as new ones. Just trade it in and for a small premium of cash and time you get a brand new car.
