That it was a miscalculation, that he won’t be able to hold the cities, that Russia is economically ruined, etc. The fact is he knew the sanctions would be the response, he saw an opening, and he took it. He will have most if not all of Ukraine by the end of this mess and, much as we may detest him, it was an intelligent move on his part to achieve his own desired ends. Moar
March 17, 20223 yr Fact: Russia was part of the Not-Z Alliance all they way up into 1941 and provided the resources for the majority of Not-Z Germany's war efforts.
March 17, 20223 yr On 3/1/2022 at 2:49 PM, TEW said: The economic concerns would have already been calculated into his decision. This is what Putin did professionally for the KGB. He’s a lot of things, but stupid or short sighted isn’t one of them. I also don’t think the chances of an Iraq situation are nearly as high. Ukraine and Russia are very similar countries and Putin sees them as brothers of the Russian people. There are a LOT of ethnically Russian people living in Ukraine and many more who support Russia over the west. Ukraine is the most important aspect of his plans. Giving up, say, Finland is a trade he’s more than happy to make. Also, don’t discount the knock on effects of these sanctions pushing countries out of the dollar system. It could have a lot of implications down the line if a parallel economic and monetary system develops in the East and South. Moar!

I disagree, but even if that were true it wouldn’t change the fact that direct conflict with Russia has a high likelihood of resulting in a nuclear detonation. Your own statement, if true, virtually guarantees it. So again, the idea of championing a direct conflict with Russia is the smoothest of smooth brained ideas.
March 17, 20223 yr Yeah guys, listen to the sage that predicted two thirds of Ukraine would be engulfed by now. He's clearly got a real good feel for how things will turn out in this war.
