China, unlike Russia, is smart enough not to cut itself off from the US and EU, and they have MUCH more to lose given the trade relationships. And I see a very small chance of them doing anything on Taiwan beyond their usual rhetoric.

The Taiwan question is just one of many possible catalysts. How would you handicap it? 1% chance over the next decade? 5? 10?
