You really don't understand how things work.  To people like you - everything is out in the open for all to see.  Nothing happens behind the scenes.

Oh we're aware that behind the scenes things get flushed down the toilet.

Here's the truly hysterical part -- the current situation is ideal for the US. Russia's military is engaged and has been seriously degraded to the point that they have to bring in foreign troops. We a

wait, do you actually think Trump would become pro-NATO all the sudden and actually do anything more than what Biden is doing?

You think you made a funny, but you can't seem to put your finger on why this didn't happen while Trump was prez.

But then why didn't Putin do this then?

Yah, because the Russians just happened to wait until Trump was OUT of office before they went in.  You people are blind as a bat.  It's staring you in the face and you don't even see it - more like you choose not to see it.

edit: I was waiting for the stupid "your posts have been merged" thing to timeout.

Do you actually think that Trump would do a damn thing if Russia had decided to do this then?

In all likelihood the timing is probably related to NordStream 2. Russia oil is paying Ukraine hefty fees to have their gas pass through Ukraine (among other nations) and NS 2 was at the time just waiting for EU's approval.

Putin doesn't care who the US president is as long as he's confident the West/US/NATO won't commit to a large scale military defense of Ukraine. Look at Tucker tickling Putin's balls every night and tell me that with Trump in charge the Republican base would be itching for a war with Russia

Can this dude just go away already. Embarrassment.

Neo-con warmongers will not be outdone by neo-lib warmongers.

We should invade and seize all the oil.

yeah, ok komrad.

It's really not that complicated. During the Trump presidency, the US administration was actively weakening NATO, which is Putin's stated goal. So why in the hell would Putin take aggressive actions when he was already getting what he wanted? All he might have done is rally NATO's European members to bind together. You don't start a fight when your enemies are tearing themselves apart.

Biden is the polar opposite of Trump when it comes to NATO and all other international security alliances, and strengthening NATO and international ties is his primary objective. So Putin acts now because Nord Stream 2 presented the potential to drive a wedge between Germany and the US. So far Putin's calculation has failed, but let's see if Germany sticks with it.

Putin's goal is always to weaken NATO.

We should not be depending on Russia for oil at all

That's going to be the key.

I look forward to hearing the idiots in the back blaming Biden for $6/gallon at the pump.

I mean, oil is a global market. We could sanction Russian oil, but unless others went along, we'd simply just raise the price we pay for oil by limiting our supply. There was no way European countries were going to sanction Russian oil exports prior to this.

Right or wrong that is who will get blamed, just like inflation.

Sorry Russia has troops in your country. Also, not my problem. Lower our freaking gas and get rid of the sanctions...but then Democrats wouldn't have an out for inflation/high gas/economy sucking, which we all know they will blame on this BS. Not getting involved should be an issue we all agree on.

No, you just want to fight until the last Ukrainian.

It is so heartwarming to see that no matter what is going on, there are always people ready, willing and able, to throw blame for it at a party.

This is, of course, the first step to solving any problem. Assign blame.

The number one person who deserves blame is Putin by far

Good lord I'm so glad that stooge is out of office. If anyone needs to ask for the 999th time why we voted for Biden and why I couldn't care less if he has full on dementia, here is a glaring example.

He'd be parroting Putin's talking points and blaming it all on NATO. This would be exactly the narrative Trump would need to pull the U.S. out of NATO which he was dying to do.

This post didn't age well.

My guess is there is now a mutual agreement in place between China and Russia. Russia takes Ukraine, China takes Taiwan and they support each other's moves.

Acting like what happens overseas won't affect us here is folly. I would have thought Americans would have learned this by now, but sadly not.
