In the most incarcerated nation in the world (United States), it's much more common.

I understand where you are coming when it comes to incarceration rates in the U.S. etc.... but there is a zero chance anyone in the United States would be given a 9 year prison sentence on their first offense for possessing less than 1 gram of Cannabis in 2022. Not even in the most conservative state in the union. In over half the states, it would be at most a summary offense. (Traffic ticket) or legal. In the rest of the U.S., it would have been a misdemeanor (At most).

If you read another post I put up in a different message board, you'd see that I said that any administration would seek to get her back under these circumstances. But that being said, you really need to be brain dead to bring pot into Russia.
