What they are doing is denying Russians the european lifestyle they already got used to.  I know you scoff at such silly things, mock the Euro economy for "just making handbags" and such.  But this is exactly how the USSR fell last time, because the people just wanted f'ing blue jeans like normal people.  This time what took 50 years will take 5.  Putin will be ousted and banished if not outright killed within 5 years.  Book it.

Problem is, this time Europe is at risk of having no heat in the winter. Seems the European lifestyle is at risk on both sides of the iron curtain.

I doubt the Russians want European lifestyles as much as you think. Not after the blatant bigotry and hatred on display toward ordinary Russians by all of Europe. Russia has turned to the East. Not because they wanted to but because they are horrified by the ease with which Europe has abandoned basic decency toward all Russians. Europe is one step away from instigating state sanctioned violence against innocent Russians.

Besides, there is no "European lifestyle" without cheap, reliable energy from Russia.

@probably has something to do with Russia invading a country inside Europe. Just my guess though. 🤷‍♂️

Collective punishment is a war crime.

Quote

Article 22(2)(a) of the 1991 ILC Draft Code of Crimes against the Peace and Security of Mankind, states that "collective punishment” is an exceptionally serious war crime and a serious violation of the principles and rules of international law applicable in armed conflict.

Bigotry notwithstanding.

How is this news.  More deaths in hospitals are from falling out of windows than any other cause of death combined!

Several oligarchs have met similar fates recently. LINK

Another Putin critic, banker Dan Rapoport, also fell from a window to his death.

Interesting how this keeps happening.

European lifestyle is more than handbags and haute cuisine, it's also democracy and modern workplaces with rights and comforts.  It's startups and partnerships in Paris and London instead of Tehran and Beijing.  And yes, its also handbags and f'ing haute cuisine, things that are tough to let go of once you know them.  Russia needs Europe more than Europe needs Russia.  That was proven easily in the cold war and this reminder will come hard and quickly.

I'm going to Paris in late October, i'll let you know if the hotels and restaurants are closed because of no gas (hint: they won't be)  Judging by the hotel & plane prices, European lifestyle is still on like Donkey Kong.

Yeah but they get counted as Covid for insurance purposes.

My god!  Why won't they invest in window locks?

Did he die from COVID or with COVID?

The West just stole 300 billion in Russian reserve currency and you think the Russians are pining to return for more? Russia will never again expose itself to the weaponized financial gulag of the West.

Capital flight from Europe is well underway and, if Powell hikes interest rates another 75/100bps, that flight will accelerate.

I'd say it was a lethal cocktail of vaccine and COVID, with the impact also slightly contributing to his demise.

Hey guys, just checking in....has Russia won yet? Wasn't this supposed to be over by end of February/early March?

It was, but those damned Ukrainian not zees won't play fair and lie down in front of the superior might of Russia.

Sitting in Europe now. Everything is totally fine. If it wasn’t for the signs like the one I posted above you wouldn’t even know there’s a war going on.

Yup. I was in Europe last month. Occasionally you see some blue and yellow Ukraine flags while out and about, or you hear something about Ukraine refugees. Other than that, it's the same as it was.
