If you were actually russian and lived in russia, how fast would you have hightailed it out when this started? Before or after all those other men left?

My bet is before.

What does serving in the US military have to do with anything?

Right.

It's easy to accuse others of cowardice when you're motivated by stupidity.

You didn't answer the question, stupid.

But I'm sure if Elizabeth was still with us she would thank you for your service to the crown.

He is clearly retarded and looking for attention.  The only thing he ever served were Big Macs from the drive through window.

You're the one who says I would flee from military service. I merely pointed out that I've worn the uniform before so you're misguided, as usual.

That's not even close to what I said. This is why everyone has called you retarded your whole life. You are retarded.

"Hightailed it out" can't be interpreted any other way, Schlep.

Not having served in the Russian military, I don’t know for certain, but I’d imagine it’s a tad different than serving in the US military.

I want to say you are just playing stupid, but then I remembered you are actually, in fact, retarded.

But I was a U.S. citizen and served in the U.S. military.

We have an actual history that parallels and contradicts your hypothetical scenario.

Vladimir Putin’s foot soldiers have apparently been turning their weapons on each other as the Russian leader’s "special military operation” continues to come apart at the seams in spectacular fashion.

The Kremlin’s flailing bid to get an edge on the battlefield by deploying mercenaries from the Wagner Group—which now includes hundreds of prison inmates—has reportedly backfired as the private military force butts heads with the Russian military.

The growing conflict resulted in a Wagner fighter gunning down a lieutenant colonel in the Russian army—a deadly episode of "friendly fire” that the Kremlin is said to be trying to sweep under the rug, according to the human rights group Gulagu.net.

There is no parallel in voluntarily joining the US military during relatively peaceful times and being forced too join the military under the current conditions.

Why aren’t you fighting with Russia now?

Just now, Tnt4philly said:

I don't think this is unique to Russia. Wasn't there something similar during Vietnam?

There's always going to be a certain percentage who seek to avoid military service during wartime. Out of 10s of millions of men of military age, having several hundred thousand who dodge service is not surprising.

What's surprising is to see U.S. citizens pretend they're above such things when history proves otherwise.

VN was a long time ago, and we haven’t made the same draft mistake since. This is about current affairs.

I can't help what geopolitical conditions obtained when I was young. I was in uniform during Desert Storm but never got called into combat. I was expecting and mentally prepared to go into combat but the "war" lasted only about 120 days.

I'm not fighting in Russia's war because I'm not Russian. That and I'm slightly past my prime.

If we had a draft today, we would see worse draft dodging than then. Hell, the military can't fill their recruitment goals now.

I don’t disagree but it has nothing to do with the current situation. Just to be clear, I am 100% against forced military service.

Military recruitment ebbs and flows all the time.
