October 27, 20223 yr 9 hours ago, VanHammersly said: Remember when Abra was saying Europeans were going to freeze this winter? https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/26/energy/europe-natural-gas-prices-plunge/index.html Europe has more natural gas than it knows what to do with. So much, in fact, that spot prices briefly went negative earlier this week. For months, officials have warned of an energy crisis this winter as Russia — once the region’s biggest supplier of natural gas — slashed supplies in retaliation for sanctions Europe imposed over its invasion of Ukraine. Now, EU gas storage facilities are close to full, tankers carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) are lining up at ports, unable to unload their cargoes, and prices are tumbling. Quote Massimo Di Odoardo, vice president of gas and LNG research at Wood Mackenzie, says unseasonably mild weather is largely responsible for the dramatic change in fortune. "In countries like Italy, Spain, France, we’re seeing temperatures and [gas] consumption closer to August and early September [levels],” he told CNN Business. "Even in countries in the Nordics, the UK and Germany, consumption is way below the average for this time of the year,” he added. A stroke of good luck is not an answer to Europe's problems. Their problems are long term. Quote Prices could rise sharply again in December and January as the weather turns colder, providing an incentive for some of those tankers to wait offshore a while longer before coming into port to unload, said Booth. And despite the fact that Russia’s share of Europe’s total gas imports has fallen from 40% to just 9%, the region could be in a difficult spot next summer as it tries to replenish its stores ahead of the following winter. Prices are expected to hit €150 ($150) per megawatt hour by the end of 2023, said Bill Weatherburn, a commodities economist at Capital Economics. "Filling storage ahead of next winter will require the EU to import even more LNG because there is a need to replace lost Russian gas imports for an entire year,” he told CNN Business. Gas reserves were originally designed to cover shortfalls in the regular supply, not as the main supply for the entire year. But, hey, it's nice to see greenie weenies enjoying the benefits of global warming.

There's been multiple Ukie attacks around Kherson in the last week, all of which have been repelled with Kyiv forces taking heavy loses. Russians are dug in and massing for an offensive of their own. The clock is ticking. Word is the Kyiv regime is considering yet another mobilization. This is what the 8th or 9th? Anyway, they might begin conscripting women, for christ's sake. The male youth of an entire Slavic nation has been bled out to serve the imperial power of the Anglo-Saxon parasites. Their women are next. What a disgusting display of barbarism.

Reading your posts it’s like you don’t even realize that Ukraine was the country that got invaded. No one had to die for either side if Putin didn’t want to steal another countries territory. Russia was in no danger from Ukraine or any other country. Putin thought he could get away with an easy land grab and he was obviously mistaken.

If you think this conflict just started this year, you're an idiot. I could easily post warnings from all sorts of people that this was going to happen as far back as 2007. The "Russian land grab" trope is trotted out for low information nincompoops, like you.

Russia has been threatening to invade another country for a long time. They thought they could take more areas of Ukraine just like they did in Crimea. Bottom line is that all the threats of aggression have come from Russia. There was no threat at any time to Russia.

Encroaching NATO armies around Russia may not seem threatening to you. Doesn't matter. Russia sees it as a threat and they have the means to do something about it. Russia offered the West a security framework in December of last year. Ukraine could have remained a viable country. That was rejected and here we are. Ukraine is now a basket case begging for sustenance from anyone who'll listen. And it's about to get worse. Way worse.

October 27, 20223 yr "Yes, I can confirm that Sobchak is in Lithuania,” TASS cited Jauniskis as saying. Sobchak left the country after it was revealed on Wednesday that her apartment had been searched as part of the criminal case against her commercial director Kirill Sukhanov, who was detained on extortion charges. "Our commercial director Kirill Sukhanov has been arrested. They are trying to charge him with extortion,” Sobchak wrote on her Telegram channel Wednesday. Sobchak denounced this as "nonsense” and an attack on her editorial team. "I don’t believe [these charges] at all, and I hope that now they will quickly sort everything out and will see that all this is some kind of nonsense,” she said. "If not, then it is obviously a raid on my editorial office – the last free editorial office in Russia, which had to be clamped down.”
