American Suedi Murekezi freed from Russian-controlled territory by Ukrainian military intelligence

https://abcnews.go.com/International/american-suedi-murekezi-freed-russian-controlled-territory-ukrainian/story?id=95215831

Quote

Suedi had been arrested by the Russian-controlled authorities and spent weeks in a basement, where he said he was tortured. He also spent three months in a prison in Donetsk city. He was later released by the Russians, but he was without his U.S. passport and was effectively trapped in Russian-controlled territory, living in the main city of Donetsk.

I guess the Russians mistook him for a knot zee.

In my day to day life, I just never come across people like this so it's hard for me to believe they exist. The only place I see this epic level of stupidity is on here.

They're out there, but not as much as the internet. Usually it's stupid comments like "you see, the thing about Trump is...". And then it's followed by the dumbest left or right take ever.

But in my life I've probably encountered two dyed in the wool conspiracy theorists. Generally they're people who had a rough upbringing so in their adult life they want there to be some invisible force that's controlling things because they grew up without structure and desperately crave it to the point where they imagine it's there, good or bad.

They don't want to come to terms with the fact that we are an animal species living symbiotically on rock hurtling through the void of space.

VATICAN CITY, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Pope Francis on Wednesday urged people to spend less on Christmas celebrations and gifts this year and send the difference to Ukrainians to help them get through the hunger and cold of winter.  The pope, who has been making appeals for Ukraine at nearly every public event since Russia invaded its neighbour in February, made the unscripted plea at the end of his weekly general audience.  "Brothers and sisters, I tell you, there is so much suffering in Ukraine, so much, so much," he said, adding that he wanted to draw attention to the particular problems Ukrainians will bear in the coming months.

"It is beautiful to celebrate Christmas, but let us lower the level of Christmas spending. Let's have a more humble Christmas, with more humble gifts, and send what we save to the Ukrainian people, who need it," he said, prompting several rounds of applause in the audience hall.  "They are suffering so much, they are going hungry, they feel the cold and many are dying because there are not enough doctors and nurses available," he said.

He spoke as millions of civilians enduring Europe's biggest conflict since World War Two have had to contend with cuts to power, heat and water caused by Russian attacks on infrastructure as sub-zero temperatures take hold.  "Let's not forget. Christmas, yes. In peace with the Lord, yes. But with Ukrainians in our hearts. Let's make this concrete gesture for them," he said.  Francis spoke on the same day the Ukrainian national church in Rome, Santa Sofia, issued a new appeal to Italians to donate clothing and medicine that volunteers have been taking to Ukraine by the truck load since March.

Ombudsman: Children's torture chamber found in liberated Kherson

Ukrainian authorities discovered a room that Russians used to detain and torture children during the occupation of Kherson, Dmytro Lubinets, the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada, said on Dec. 14.

According to testimonies from locals, other torture victims in the facility knew that Ukrainian children had been kept there by Russian security services, who had called the room "the children's cell.”

The children were given little water and almost no food, Lubinets said. According to locals' testimonies, the children were subhect to psychological abuse at the hands of their Russian captors, who told them that their parents had abandoned them and that they would never return home.

One 14-year-old boy was arrested and later tortured just for taking a picture of broken Russian equipment, Lubinets said.

"We recorded the torture of children for the first time," said Lubinets. "I thought that the bottom could not be broken after Bucha, Irpin... but we really reached the bottom in Kherson."

Yes, if Putin's stupidity doesn't destroy Russia, and alliance with the powerhouse of Syria and Turkey, will really alter the balance of power in the world.

Dismiss it if you will. A realignment is underway and it includes the middle East, Africa, Asia, and South America. A multipolar order is being built which bypasses the arrogant, deceitful, inept, decadent Anglo-imperialists.
