Yeah, well after the radioactive cloud from Chernobyl blew over them, they decided against nuclear power.

It was an overreaction to Fushima. Chernobyl slowed it down and nuclear power has long been controversial in Germany, but there was enough support for it to keep plants open. But Fushima tipped the scales.

That was nearly 40 years ago, technology has come a long way - just don't build the plant over a tectonic fault line.

there was a move to shutter plants in 99/2000, but it was pulled back in 2009.

it was reinstated in 2011 after Fushima.

as I said nuclear has long been controversial, but it was basically a status quo situation with plants being extended until 2011.

Lukashenko was about 90/10 onboard with Putin, so maybe just old… but coincidence is a 1 in 10 proposition.

Also, the Russians are sending tac nucs to Belarus - the army there is quite small and the economy is about one quarter of PA’s, so it offers position but also another porous border and an unreliable population.

On this day we honor those fallen soldiers who have gone above and beyond to fight for and defend the ideals that America enshrined in its founding documents, the first and greatest manifestation of enlightenment thinking in history.

I don’t know.  I was called a fraud in this thread by a towny pos because I said I was proud of my grandfather, who came over from "The Ukraine” and fought for us in WW2, because he died 2 months before I was born.

Remember kids, if you never met them, it doesn’t count.

But yes, thank you to our fallen heroes. :usa:

My grandfather was a torpedoman for the Allies. He survived Scarlett Fever and a shipwreck that marooned him at a gay WAC base in Perth (Google it).

He didn't die in the war, but I remain proud.

Be proud... Axis sucks.

This is what the dumb Fs died for in Ukraine.
