This isn't like when the sanctions first hit and Russia acted to defend the Ruble. Back then they were worried about a weak Ruble in the face of plummeting exports and imports. Now that things have settled down and their economy is growing again, they don't mind a weak ruble. Exports are fine and many imports have been replaced domestically. The huge discounts for Russian oil are now ended. A weak ruble means more $$$ for their exports and plenty of cash at home. What matters is what a ruble will buy in Russia.
