The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has uncovered a massive procurement fraud involving approximately $40 million, funds intended to purchase military ammunition.

"The past few years have also made it very, very clear that NATO as a military alliance, a lot of countries, are not ready to conduct large-scale operations — meaning, in simple human language, a lot of NATO militaries are not ready to fight Russia,” General Palm said during an interview in December.

NATO maintains that it is prepared to defend the borders of all 31 member states which, collectively, have increased national defense spending by an estimated $190 billion since 2014, when Russia first invaded Ukraine. But that was the start of building back what had become a hollowed-out military network across Europe in the decades following the end of the Cold War, a process that still could take years, analysts say.

That "peace dividend,” as the shift was called, diverted trillions of dollars from military budgets to increase spending on health care, education and housing. Europe’s defense industry also shrank as demand for battle tanks, fighter jets and submarines plummeted.

In 2006, worried about being unprepared for conflict, the top defense officials from each NATO country agreed to spend at least 2 percent of their annual domestic output on their militaries. But it was not a requirement, and when military spending hit a low point in 2014, only three of the 28 member nations of NATO at the time met the benchmark. As of last year, only 11 countries had reached the 2 percent threshold, although a Western diplomat said last week that around 20 member states are expected to meet it in 2024.

Biden ain't the one that convinced them deadbeats to pay up MuthaFers! 🤣

Oooh, big bad scary Russia. Yea, just like everyone told Ukraine in Feb '22. How'd that work out for Russia so far?

Might have something to do with that whole invasion of Ukraine thing. A threat seems all the more real when it starts to materialize at your neighbor's doorstep. Of course now that Russia has been exposed as frauds, you could almost argue they might've overspent.

Lynched: a lot of NATO militaries re not ready to fight off Russia!

Reality: Simple donations from NATO members have allowed one of the poorest European countries hold off Russia for 2 years without NATO members fighting.

My point being there would be no NATO but for US money. They aren't allies. They are dependants.

Am I correct in saying that only Congress can approve any spending like aid packages?

Am I also correct in saying that congress has approved at least one aid package to Ukraine?

The was has been going on for almost two years how many aid packages have been approved?

Doubt this shocks anybody.

Tucker Carlson is in Moscow and will be interviewing Putin if he hasn't already done so.  A few random observations:

1.  This interview never would have happened had he not been let go by Fox.  A huge coup for Twitter and Elon Musk.

2.  Many on the left will be against this - because of the identities of both the interviewer and the interviewee.  But that's ridiculous.  It's newsworthy, and as much as we've been told about what's going on over there - for the most part, none of us really know for sure the complete picture.  Will this be one sided and a propaganda coup for Putin and Russia?  Very well could be.  But we live in a country with freedom of the press, and people should be trusted to reach their own conclusions.

3.  Regardless of which side on the war you are on, if you're from Russia, China, Iran or  are from the West and side with Russia - or if you are firmly in the Ukraine camp - it should be an interesting interview and worth your time to view it if you are interested in this conflict.

I'm curious whether people who post here will be boycotting the interview or whether they'll be a viewer.

I would imagine most rational people would find that to be complete garbage not worthy of their time. There is literally nothing Putin can say that would be worth a damn. He attacked a country for no reason and is only interested in lies to try to make it look justified. Why the hell would anyone want to waste time being lied to?

I hate to burst your bubble but normal Americans don't give a sheet what a former KGB fascist murderer has to say.

You are far from normal and in no position to render an accurate view of what normal Americans think.  Most people who want to be informed will watch and form their own conclusions.
