Hm. I think the hope is they can threaten more sanctions to convince Putin to stop short of capturing Kyiv. If we go right for the jugular, there's no stopping them.

I've always said Russia would act to protect the people of Donbas. After heavy artillery was introduced, Russia went into action. This was predictable.
