I recall a certain scholar from the highly esteemed and well regarded state of West Virginia proclaiming that the presence of American business would deter Putin from attacking.

You didn’t believe that redneck coal miners with their shovels wearing their MAGA 2028 hats and a call from TACO saying "Vladimir stop!” would deter Putin from bombing Ukraine?!

Here's the truly hysterical part -- the current situation is ideal for the US. Russia's military is engaged and has been seriously degraded to the point that they have to bring in foreign troops. We a

The winds were blowing towards a terrible meeting with the European leaders as well. Then, it went well. You guys suck at reading the winds.

The united European front most likely swayed Trump enough to keep him somewhat "neutral” and not totally on Putin’s side. He was awed that all these powerful leaders came to pay homage to him. Going well means nothing if TACO doesn’t follow through. It’s that simple. The "winds” the Kremlin has been sending ever since are very obvious and easy to understand.

Hopefully all of the leaders that were there will be in Trumps ear to continue pushing for the progress they thought they were making. Those people can help hold him accountable now so he can't just say Z is ungrateful always asking for more.

Agree that hopefully someone/anyone can talk some sense into him. Holding him accountable won’t really work, as he knows that he can just pull the plug completely. Everyone knows that Europe needs the US militarily way more than vice versa.

And again, that’s only half of the equation. Russia doesn’t want peace and never did. Only way is to stay firm, push back and not give in… united we stand.

We will see. Reportedly they are still working on setting up a meeting. The timeliness that was giclven was 10 days to get a location and date. You guys need to pay better attention.

Oh FFS. Imminent disaster was avoided and you must have zero self respect to be quoting deadlines at this point.

What exactly can they hold him to? He’s already backed off on direct US military security guarantees. The Kremlin has also been very clear in saying they will not accept any Western security guarantees for Ukraine. No push back from Trump. Nothing of substance has changed other than Trump telling Zelensky that Ukraine can never join NATO and Ukraine must concede land.

That's not true. We didn't expect much from the meeting but we weren't negative to the Euro leaders showing up. In any case, it was a decent performance but nothing lasting will come from it.

Trump is a f'ing dope who actually believes that Europe is a bunch of mean girls who pick on Putie and that all Putie wants is to be in the club.

As long as the European leaders stay strong in support of Ukraine, Trump will only be able to posture, but not actually do anything.

If Trump doesn’t do anything then Putin will simply continue. Action from Trump is necessary. That action must be to drive Putin and to support Ukraine.

But that’s the thing. Trump needs to start doing something. He needs to put real pressure on Russia, not with words but with deeds. Not doing anything will only extend the war. We have the Europeans paying for the support and also offering first line security guarantees. Put those sanctions on ASAP.

Hilarious.

The challenge with that is that Trump doesn’t want to embarrass himself further by making commitments that Putin won’t abide by.

The key question Trump always asks is "What’s In It For Me?” And Poon-Tang makes answering that question very hard for Trump.

What commitment has Trump made to date?

The latest statement from the Kremlin. We've seen a few like this over the last couple of days.

I thought he already had enough of poon-tang with Stormy D.. 😅

Seriously though, you’re right that he always asks what’s the benefit for himself.

Only benefit he apparently sees in ending this is him getting the Nobel Peace Prize.

It always boils down to how can he steal, how can he grab more power. I think he sees the Nobel as something he can brandish as proof for his inevitable '28 run and sham election.
