A Darth Vader movie hunting Jedi just after film 3 would kick ass - maybe make it R rated and edgy to sit against how dark that period is.  Also do some stuff with Moff Tarkin that sits alongside Vader if the prequel gap needs filling in - and I'd say keep the structure of Rogue One as part of that.

Agree on redoing 7-9 and steal the Zahn Thrawn books as a basis for those films.  They will adapt well and transition fans away from what has been done. Recast the main 3 as part of that.

But the most important thing is hire serious people, have a story arc locked down and ensure its a tight budget. No more open cheque books and bad CGI. Get the old magic back

It really isn’t that complicated. Give us the movie we have all wanted to see for over 40 years. Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight, kicking ass and trying to rebuild the Jedi while Leia tries to start the New Republic. Stop overthinking it.

They did. You can't comeback easily from Lesbian Space Witches. They managed to fumble Luke, Han and Leia meeting and trashed Luke as a character. So they went back in history and took dumps on that too.

The best thing to do is decanonise the Disney stories completely and start again from film 6.  It will at least give you a blank slate to start from and build something new.  It's too complex to fix now and Lucasfilm for sure don't have the brains and willingness to do that. They hired Headland FFS and let her do her thing.

It was ruined well before The Acolyte....

The whole entire Rey storyline basically nullified the entire Anakin Skywalker/Chosen One story arc by bringing Sidious back and having Rey be the one to finally kill him off....   How can you be the Chosen One if the bad guy comes back to life?

And, like I said, they'll never be able to reboot from 6 with Carrie Fisher dead, and Harrison Ford saying he won't do another one.

They're going to double down with another Rey trilogy because that's what these egomaniacs do....

recast Luke, Han and Leia and just make the post-ROTJ movies people actually wanted. Hell, just use the Zahn books.

Since my dog woke me up and I can't get back to sleep, I'll take my swing at writing a plot line for how Episodes 7-9 should have played out:

The trilogy should have been about the fall and redemption of Ben Solo.

Episode 7 should have shown him as a Jedi in training under Luke.   Show how he was in a rivalry with another student (Rey) and how it made him jealous because that person was stronger with the Force and that Luke favored this person instead of him.   While this was going on, you could have a side story about Leia and Han leading the New Republic vs the remnants of the Empire.    I'd also cast Andy Serkis/Snoke as someone who is always around the outskirts of the Jedi academy who befriends Ben and begins to plant seeds of distrust and jealousy in him to slowly turn him against Luke.  He wouldn't look like he did in the movies, but he'd look like an unassuming middle aged man.

The climax of the movie would be the Imperials attacking the planet in an attempt to destroy the new Jedi Temple with Luke and the Jedi Students defending it against overwhelming odds. Things are looking bleak until Han Solo arrives with the New Republic fleet and helps turn the tide.  Before the battle is over, Ben tries to do something heroic against Luke's orders and is seemingly killed in Battle.

The movie ends with scenes of Luke, Leia and Han mourning his loss, but in reality we see that Ben was saved by the Andy Serkis/Snoke character and turned into a new Darth Vader/Kylo Ren in a montage that calls back to the end Scene of Revenge of the Sith.

Episode 8 can show the rise of the new Empire as the Serkis character is revealed as Darth Vader's secret Sith Apprentice who was really the leader of the Imperial forces.  Unbeknownst to Luke, his new apprentice, Kylo Ren, is really the fallen Ben Solo.

Leia and Han want to lead a mission to infiltrate the Imperial base, but Luke is still distraught and refuses to use his Jedi students in the mission.

Leia has Han and Chewie lead a group of Republic commandos to infiltrate the base, but they get betrayed by an Imperial spy and are captured.

Luke is visited by Yoda, Obi Wan and Anakin who convince him to lead a Jedi rescue party and confront the new Sith threat.

This movie ends with Kylo Ren revealing that he is Ben Solo to Han before he executes him as just as Luke and the Jedi team arrive to witness it.  A battle erupts and Snoke and Kylo escape.  We see Luke at his full power, similar to the Yoda scene in Episode 2.   The movie ends with Luke consoling Leia and telling her that Ben is alive and promising to turn him back from the Dark Side.

Episode 9 shows the Funeral of Han Solo as well as the Jedi "graduation" ceremony of Rey and the rest of the first class of Jedi trainees.

It is revealed that Snoke and the new Empire have a new super weapon (Starkiller Base) that threatens to destroy the New Republic.

Leia and Admiral Akbar plan to lead the entire Republic Fleet against the Imperials to try and destroy the base while Luke and the new Jedi will lead a ground assault to ultimately confront and kill Snoke and Kylo Ren.

The huge, final battle can include a bunch of cameos (Wedge, Lando, etc) and show some poignant death scenes for characters like Admiral Akbar (have him do the Holdo thing and sacrifice himself to destroy the Super Star Destroyer, etc)

On the ground, Luke and the Jedi ultimately confront Snoke/Kylo and Luke battles Snoke as Kylo and the guards fight Rey and the rest.  Kylo kills Rey and the other young Jedi as Luke battles Snoke.  Snoke gains the upper hand with Force Lightning and taunts Luke by explaining how he infiltrated his Jedi academy right under his nose and was able to corrupt Ben and destroy everything he created.  He reveals that he was Darth Vader's secret apprentice and blamed Luke for turning Vader to the Light so he wanted to get revenge by turning Ben to the Dark Side.  As this is happening, Kylo Ren begins to have doubts as he realizes that Snoke was just using him as a pawn against Luke.   Before Snoke can kill Luke, Kylo turns on him and kills him just as Vader did with the Emperor.

Luke is fatally wounded but tells Ben that in order for the Force to be balanced there can be no Jedi or Sith.   Ben sabotages the base's super weapon before they can use it to destroy the Republic, sacrificing himself and finally brining balance to the Force - no Sith and no Jedi.

I literally just made this up in about 20 minutes while I couldn't get back to sleep and feel that it is a million times better than the trash Disney put together.

I agree. You need to recast the main 3 from the original films now. It actually helps the Star Wars world progress casting characters at the age they are supposed to be rather than working a story with people in their 60s/70s. It was the right call to get the old band together 9 years ago but the concept they went with was such a hot mess, they wasted the opportunity.

In fact the present mess actually helps someone completely reset Star Wars and be heartless about it. Fisher is no longer with us, Ford doesn't care, Hamill has turned into the weird uncle.  They don't need to be loyal to anyone or anything.

That's surprising. I thought he was very much a big deal within Disney and almost one of those protected people from losing projects.  I don't recall what film he was doing because so many have been announced and then cancelled or never mentioned again....

They’ll never be able to adequately recast Korg.

re-watched ahsoka and while i enjoyed the first season, i still think they F'd up by not showing more of her backstory as many fans didn't watch the animated series. we should've has many more flashbacks to the clone wars that could've included obi wan and other jedis before order 66 was carried out.

the season could've ended with the star whales jumping to peridea with ahsoka and sabine.

The Vader with the kid's costume mask and the beard was a jump scare.
