The CG is better than a lot of Hollywood stuff. AndI guess the broomsticks hurt more than Lightsabers do nowadays....

I rewatched the Family Guy parodies recently, and they are much better than most of the recent stuff. Knd of sad that soft drink advert can do better than Disney

There is no more viable story left to tell for Obi Wan, even if Filoni tries to insert Ahsoka into it.

I fell into a YouTube hole yesterday (mostly Sopranos clips) and somehow wound up watching the throne room scene from ROTJ where the Emperor electrocutes Luke and Vader turns.

Something I never really thought of..... Why wasn't Luke more messed up from the Force Lightning?

He basically got electrocuted for like a minute straight and he was basically unaffected by it like a few seconds later after Vader killed Palpatine.

"the will of the force," or something. It scarred Palpatine but no blood or burns, just immediate gray wrinkled skin. It assisted in killing Vader who was weak from the fight and his hand cut off. But Luke was younger I suppose. Maybe he has a flawless skin care routine.

Reminds me of how Vader's limbs were cut off and body all burned up and charred so they slap him into a suit. You would think he'd be in medical care for weeks treating his wounds.

There's a lot they made up as they went along even in the originals. And they more they toy with things, the more plot holes it creates, or questions it raises. Doing things out of order in the timeline back and forth make that happen even more.

The more they try to go back and tinker, and try to give fans the versions of characters they wish they had, the more they need to just think about stopping and retconning everything like other franchises have done.

Rogue One gave us a badarse Vader. Ahsoka showed us Thrawn (meh). Obi-Wan show used Inquisitors for the first time (where were they before or after?) and a Jedi who survived Order 66. The Mandalorian gave us post-ROTJ world, some glimpses of the New Republic and Luke being a badarse fighting the dark troopers. Rebels cartoon showed other surviving Jedi, Thrawn, Maul, an Obi-Wan/Maul confrontation and other things. The list goes on.

At this point, make a creative pivot. They could utilize the Mandalorian and Ashoka stories, combine with new actors playing Luke/Han/Leia and do the post-ROTJ and Thrawn story right. There's even a way to perhaps creatively do the story we want to see but not ish on the episodes 7-9. They could deal with the remnants of the Empire and developing them into the First Order, introduce the Knights of Ren and even end with a force ghost Yoda predicting another "new hope" in Rey. The movies could serve as a bridge and give fans what they wanted to see.

If they really want to keep revisiting the period between the prequels and the OG trilogy, then just make a live action Clone Wars series or movies. They could do a 2-part movie that takes place between episodes 2 and 3 that shows the Clone Wars, Anakin & Ahsoka, more of Obi-Wan missions, other Jedi and more political stuff and the impact of the Empire of various places (like Andor did). You could end that with a scene that sets the stage for episode 3 where Palpatine has a conversation with Count Dooku about the plan (which was in a novel) and the setup of him being kidnapped by Grievous. Meanwhile, Ahsoka leaves the Jedi order and wants nothing to do with politics and war (which is a way to explain why she wasn't around in the OG trilogy). It supplements the material and does a little retcon without being a remake.

Just give everybody what they want and do Knights of the Old Republic.

The story is already done..... You don't even need to waste time on development. Just put a screenplay together.

You can easily get a trilogy and a series or 2 out of that material.

Star Wars needs to go away now. Even the most hyper Star Wars geek won't be able to unpick the mess Lucasfilm have made and way too many fans have moved on to make it a viable property as is.

There are a lot of stories that could be told post ROTJ, but it would require a total reset - no Rey, no Ashoka, no Kylo, no First Order. I don't see Lucasfilm doing it because it would admit they basically got it wrong.

Yup. That's what the fans have actually wanted. The Acolyte attempted to do something set far in the past before the prequels which that in itself was good, give something new and different. The execution of it was mostly bad.

Yeah they should just wrap up the Mandalorian and Ashoka/Rebels story lines and then take a break. They want to make money, so they'll keep making stuff but there's also a sense of leaving audiences wanting more by not pumping out too much content.

For better or worse, other franchises have rebooted or given fresh takes, or even retconned and forgotten about past sequels. The Halloween franchise did modern sequels that pretended the previous sequels didn't exist. And Rob Zombie did his take on them. I know it's not as popular, but it's an interesting example where they just moved on and pretended the bad movies didn't exist.

We've had various iterations of superhero characters like Batman, Spider-Man and Superman and those are big popular names. Harry Potter is being redone already. It felt for a long time that Star Wars was different. But it's only a matter of time before someone comes along and takes ideas that Lucas had for episodes 7-9 and make something with that as an inspiration plus the Timothy Zahn novels.

There was hope with Dave Filoni, working closely with George and the mantle being passed to him. But he's obsessed with new characters (and plot holes) he created in his cartoons. I would be curious what he might do with a remake trilogy of 7-9, how he would treat the OG trilogy characters. I think there could be an interesting path of Ahsoka showing up and advising Luke on rebuilding the Jedi order, some random Jedi that survived Order 66, some that weren't fully trained, and building it from scratch (which they are apparently wanting Rey to do). I liked the idea in The Last Jedi that Luke learned from the mistakes of the older Jedi and letting evil rise among them, and how things might be different if the Jedi order were rebuilt. Managing that while others rebuild the New Republic and deal with remnants of the Empire and new Sith/dark Jedi keeps it simple, gives fans what they want, and you can still add new characters and ideas to it.

There was some chatter out there that if Mando does well, they want to make it a film trilogy. There is also talk that the final breath of Lucasfilm to fix SW will be to redo the OG trilogy to remove some of the structure they've struggled to fit into and make the story more appropriate for a modern audience.

The only way a reset would work is if the property lays dormant for long enough and it was net new team of creatives, that have nothing to do with George or Lucasfilm today and are given the latitude to own it and the lore, with mgmt letting them do their work without bending to external trends. Like Harry Potter on TV, they need to plan the releases and casting, and stick to the damned story.

Star Wars. Much potential it has, but fail often it does.

As an aside, James Gunn made a great point recently that a lot of films are started without the script finished., hence a lot of the issues we customers see on screen.

That scene was in ep 2 when she was playing hard to get. Supposedly she got pregnant after the wedding which was the last scene in ep 2.

Gotcha. I've not watched those films fully in 20+ years, so the finer plot points are long gone.

Aaah. Did they ever explain why he is wearing the black suit? Did something happen?

We can't hate Lucasfilm enough

It was a fashion choice. Black is slimming.
