Not sure how I feel. I don’t have to work Sunday so that’s a plus. I just hope our WC game isn’t the Monday night game.

Wait, they’re having a Monday night WC game? That’s crazy.

Yep. One game will be Monday night.

Not necessarily the Cowboys.  Cowboys still playing for the 3 seed, which would get them home field in the Divisional playoff if the 2 seed loses in the Wild Card round and they win.

For the Eagles, it's a question of, do you want to go to likely Tampa for Round 1 against the Bucs or play whoever wins the NFC West (Rams or Cardinals, Rams still have to play the 49ers again this week with the 49ers having to win to get in).

Actually I just read that the outcome of the Dallas Eagles game will have no bearing on which seed the Eagles get - it will depend only on what happens in the 49ers and Saints games.

Very interesting.  So it's what the 49ers and Saints do that will determine that:

Rams still need to beat the 49ers to assure themselves of the NFC West as the Cardinals are hosting a Seahawks squad that has the worst defense in the NFL.  Rams do that, Saints are playing a Falcons team that has won only one actual home game all year, and you have a Saints team that the NFL will try to bury in the worst time slot possible knowing that game against the 2 seed will likely be an easy win for the 2.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys still need this game to get the 3 seed though that could lead to them getting the 49ers in round 1 should the Niners win.  Otherwise, if the 49ers lose and Saints win, if the Cowboys win, guess who'd they'd be likely facing (again!) if they did win up with the 3 seed?

Basically it seems:

49ers win = Eagles 7 seed

49ers lose + Saints win = Eagles 6 seed

49ers lose + Saints lose = Eagles 7 seed

WTF??!!! STOOPID NFL!!

Both teams will be resting starters so I think it's weird they moved the game unless both teams are playing the following Saturday which is unlikely.

I personally don't think they should rest. Rather see them play so don't come out cold. go into playoffs with a win and send Dallas into the playoffs 2 losses stuck in their head.

That's some crap. Sunday most are off.  Monday I work second shift... catering to ratings more than fans.

This is about avoiding having a game on Saturday afternoon when many people are out doing family activities and are unlikely to be home.

This also solves the issue of where to put the ESPN/ABC telecast.  I believe they added the 17th game so they could do a Monday night playoff game as what had been Wild Card weekend had Monday night blocked off most years by the college football national championship game, an event if the NFL tried to force to another date would have been blocked by elected officials in areas of the country where college football is actually bigger than the NFL and those officials would likely introduce legislation to come after the NFL if they tried to do that.

I can watch with my family and friends on a Saturday, not Monday.

I hear ya, I'm torn on wanting to rest starters.  On one hand you avoid injuries and those that are injured get an extra week to rest and heal up.  But on the other too many times you see those teams with the 1 and 2 seeds with a first round bye (old playoff format) come out flat after the week off.  Tough call.

A lot of families have scheduled activities on Saturday afternoons that can't easily be moved to other days.

Also, you have tons of college basketball games on Saturday afternoon as many schools try to avoid playing Friday night because of high school basketball.  You now because of television needs have more Friday games but that is still the case for many schools, but most schools prefer to play Saturday afternoon and so many such games in the daytime coupled with other activities make a 1:00 PM Saturday game difficult for many as opposed to an 8:15 PM Monday night game.

Maybe they can have a superbowl monday too... I'm mean if your a fan and your team plays a playoffs you have the ability to adjust and watch it, cause your off. Kind of hard on mondays unless call into work. Wish superbowl was on a Saturday well. Gives you day to recoup and no is calling in on monday.

100% agree with this.  Imagine how much more money everyone would make if people did not have to work the day after.

I've never really understood why the SB is on a Sunday. I guess because traditionally the league is played on a Sunday?

I remember several years ago the soccer UEFA Champions League moved from a Wednesday where it had always been played to a Saturday... I'm sure the bars and pubs were very thankful. At first it seemed weird but now it just makes so much sense.

There is some things that are so easy, but the NFL does not see it.  Thursday games for example.  Everyone complains about the quick turnaround.  I have been saying for years, besides the week 1 game, they should not have Thursday games until week 5, and teams should have their bye the week before a Thursday night game.  You then have 11 days before the game and then 10 days after.

I know traditions are generally loved but some need to be changed. The SB should be on a Saturday and within a few years people would realise its much better and would forget what it was like before. I'm not sure anyone would truly hate the move and many would love and welcome it.

I think we have to rest them. Can you imagine losing a starter, say Jordan Mailata, to a blown ACL. Not only do you lose him for the playoffs but part of next year. All for the possibility of getting a higher seed. Just doesn’t seem worth it.

And that's the thing...Its for the possibility not the certainty of moving up in the seeds. I don't think the risk is worth it to be honest. We know we are going to play TB, Arizona or LA so get ready for one of those. Ok it could be Dallas but they need a number of results to go their way.

I presume this is with the Eagles losing and finishing 9-8. The 3rd option if Eagles win would also mean we get 6 seed?

So they should postpone this game now, right?  I mean we have over a dozen players on the covid list.

Strangely, the outcome of our game on Saturday night has no bearing on which seed we get ... that is completely dependent on the scenarios outlined in that post.

EDIT:  the above statement is inaccurate ... the outcome of our game Saturday night will have no bearing on which seed we get ONLY if SF loses.

So the Eagles could lose but still move up to the 6th seed?
