People fleeing Twitter yesterday crashed Mastodon. No, I have no idea what Mastodon is.

Seems like a reddit / Twitter mashup

In a matter of weeks, Elon Musk has turned Twitter into the Jeremy Renner app.

Staff meeting going well

Does he actually run his other companies? Or his he a "big idea guy" and others actually do the day to day running of the company? Based on recent events, how he came to be in charge of anything is absolutely amazing.

From what I've heard, it's the latter.

I feel like a hipster on this, but I have hated him since about 2009, and people are finally realizing he is a buffoon (see the internal emails). He started rich with parents owning an emerald mine and had very little to do with PayPal but gets to say he is a founder as part of a settlement forcing him to leave. Tesla was created by two engineers; he just bought in, and now the stock is over valued. He has said since 2012 that, in one year, cars will be able to self drive from LA to NYC with no person in them. Meanwhile, they still crash often, while Tesla trucks are not viable. Solar City was a scam, out of which he got a billion dollars of our tax money. Hyper Loop is a non-feasible idea over 110 years old, which was promoted that he "would release open source" to fanfare (because he can't patent an idea he didn't own). He also said we'd have people on mars by 2022 and changed it to 2026. We're still way off.

Ya let's launch a manned mission to Mars when the distances between us are at near maximum and requires the most fuel and resources to get there and back. Brilliant idea, super genius inventor guy!

Let's not forget he called the diver trying to save those kids a pedo because the diver said Elon's submarine idea was stupid/pr stunt.

Tesla and SpaceX are a lot different than social media companies.  And a lot of the social media companies have learned from their mistakes over the last 10 years, but Musk didn’t learn the same lessons running his businesses.  Add in that Twitter was already a pit of vipers BEFORE he took over.  Lol

Don’t forget his solar roof tiles.  That’s a win ?

He's not even really much of the big idea guy. He's basically the hype man. He really mastered telling VCs and public investors what they wanted to hear while some really great engineers actually did the work. At the SpaceX HQ, his desk is in the corner (it was a totally open floor plan, no offices) and in the 45 minutes I was there, no one came by to interact with him. Sure, he was technically in a meeting with us, but it was pretty obvious that no one really interacted with him. When we tried to talk about the business (meeting was re: Solar City), the balance sheet, etc. he flat out told us he doesn't bother himself with such things.

The problem is he started to believe his own press clippings and now thinks he knows how to run a company. He doesn't.

I love this!

Is it about time to sell any Tesla stock?

He needs to hire the mods from the EMB and just start banning everyone who causes trouble

So, basically, he's Adam Neumann.
