You need to pack in a few more strawmen into this post, you're almost into the double digits, don't give up now!

And he will use this army of strawman, defending Elon till the end!

For the record, there are no big social media sites with free speech.

Not Twitter, not Parler, not Truth Social.

None of them have free speech. They have a TOS you can abide, or be banned for violating.

To be fair, most tech companies are down a decent amount from a year ago. Not that I don't think tesla is massively overvalued (because it most certainly is) but AMZN, GOOG, FB, etc are all feeling the pinch.

CVON is a special corner of the internet where an elderly man experiencing noticeable cognitive decline is comfortable calling the world's richest man and developer of several multi-billion dollar companies a nitwit.

Meh they make electric cars, who the F wants to drive one of those and have the battery go dead or explode every other day?

I just don’t really see how musk turns it around. Once the general public moves on to something else there is usually no recovering for Internet companies. Twitter could easily end up the way of MySpace.

What's the other option?

"Developer"  Elon being successful and Elon acting like a nitwit are not mutually exclusive. He is very clearly acting like a nitwit. But his fanboys also love him for it so he has that going for him.

Elon gonna let Kz’s crew back on so Kz has something to retweet.

Admiral Alzheimer's didn't say he's acting like a nitwit, nitwit.

Wait, what's your point here? You're splitting hairs between him saying "acting like a nitwit" and flat out just calling him a nitwit?

And yet I'm the nitwit?

Ok then

I'm stupid because you misunderstood the difference between calling someone a nitwit and saying someone is "acting like a nitwit?"

Carry on.

Oh, I can see why you'd get confused.

Kz, you're acting stupid. Better?

There isn’t one at this point but there may not have to be if Elon keeps running off advertisers

That should help with advertisers.

Yeah he might have been hitting the freedom a little hard today.

I imagine the fanboys' responses to a racially-charged incident probably weren't the best examples of the free speech Elon crows about.

The fact you invoke strawmen is funny. If I am wrong, tell me where - all I see is echo chamber huffing and puiffing that someone move your cheese.  BTW, I think Musk is massive dope who sells expensive cars to gullible people with too much money or ego issues., that love the status symbol of driving a Tesla and feeling like they are helping the world.  Money for old rope, but some people can't get enough of being seen in Tesla.

I know your argument was "There's more activity"...but does this activity represent how Twitter is going to be? Or does it represent people tuning in for the circus since Twitter is in the headlines right now?

I think you'll agree with me - a business doesn't want chaos. Especially someone else's chaos. If you're CMO of McDonalds, and you just wanna run some ads without any drama, are you trusting Elon with your brand's reputation right now?

Sounds like you're living in an echo chamber of one, bruh. Because nobody said that except you.

It's simple—Elon is inviting chaos. He's attaching his personal brand to Twitter's brand. If Elon bought Twitter and said "We're doing free speech now" and then just shut up and let some tech CEO run things, they wouldn't be in the headlines as much.  But he wants to be a social media influencer. Which means any brand who pays to advertise on Twitter is now paying to be on the hook for wherever Elon's reputation takes them.

Yeah...and people can have opinions on it. The Eagles are someone's private company too. Let's end all football debates with that line too.

Who knows.  But when you become more politically impartial, you maximise the advertiser exposure to different groups and widen the user base and companies that may want to advertise - if you lose 100,000 user of POV x, but then get 250,000 of users of various backgrounds a, b, c, what is better for the company bottom line?  The "chaos" is what occurs when someone buys/takes over an underperforming company, with a questionable culture and realigns costs to its income.  I've worked in companies (larger and same size to Twitter) who have had similar "chaoses" and it was a very precise thing, regardless of how it looks outside.  It wasn't pleasant to work in, but you do appreciate how many pointless jobs that don't add much value,

Ultimately, if content moderation standards and consistency are maintained (as they have been right?), and user growth is maintained/stabilised, will an advertiser now choose to spend their budget there, or lower usage platforms like Truth, Mastodon, Hive, etc or go to more traditional outlets?  Musk paid waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much for Twitter and stupidly locked himself in to the price, so is trying to save his own money and rep by trying to make Twitter more agnostic in terms of politics, etc.  It's a smart call

That's kinda the whole point though. It's one thing to buy Twitter and make it "politically agnostic." It's another thing to buy Twitter and tell people to vote republican, or talk about how the shooting in Ferguson (from years ago) was "made up". If he wants to make Twitter politically agnostic, neither left nor right, ideally Musk would shut up, yes? Because, again...imagine yourself as a CMO of a large brand, is Twitter 2.0 bringing calm and stability to your marketing? Or are you just attaching your brand's name to Elon and his beliefs?
