I'm rather not draft Bijan at 10, but I damn sure don't want him drafted by Dallas.

He will kill us worse than Zeke used to.

I get your sentiment but I would like them to continue drafting RBs and LBs. At least that insures continued long-term failure.

PFF, who are an advocate of never taking a first round RB, making a case that if your team is perfectly set up to have a rookie RB succeed and if you believe Bijan is a once-ever talent, then it’s not completely out of bounds to consider him, even at 10:

It‘s simple: If you draft him and win the SB, you were smart. If you don‘t however there will forever be the question if you could‘ve with someone else.

You don‘t have to look far: Zeke, Barkley.. some ohhs and ahhs followed by losses and headache.

We‘re better off drafting linemen. That said I‘d rather have him over a reach or bust, so there‘s that.

Yeah, RB is way less valuable, but it’s the question of "best RB prospect in the last 15 years, or 4th best DE of 2023 projected to go 20th.”

I am starting to come around on the idea of drafting him. I am always a proponent of focusing early draft picks on OL, CB, DE... in that order (not including when you have a top 5 pick and need a QB). I don't know if there has ever been a draft where I wanted them to take a RB in the first. Not even Ricky Williams, haha.

This is different, though. Long term, it is probably not a great strategy. Since we are strong contenders for the title, maybe a player with an immediate impact wouldn't be so bad.

I went from "no" on Bijan to "I wouldn't be that upset if we took him at 10."

It would make for an exciting season, that's for sure.

Is he really though? That's some really high praise for someone that hasn't set foot on a NFL field yet. How much better can he be than the top guys now? This dude is getting hyped like he's going to be a 2000 yard rusher and 1000 yard receiver or something.

Yeah I don’t really understand it either, but I’ve seen a lot of pundits now say he projects out much better than Barkley or Fournette, and probably the best RB since AP

Wasn't AP coming off injury at Oklahoma?

2k/1k def a stretch (has that ever been done?) but when u look at the numbers as rookies for guys like Zeke, Saquon, even Reggie Bush (88 receptions, 06 I know) I def think he can make his own mark esp w an offensive unit like ours

I was exaggerating but the dude is getting hyped like he's going to be a GOAT or something. Getting compared to Tomlinson and Fulk. All these HOFrs. I mean how much better can he be than 2nd round pick Jonathan Taylor? Or last year's leading rusher Josh Jacobs. He's a RB not a QB. RBs can be game changers at times but cmon man. Good for him getting all these accolades I guess. If the hype continues maybe he goes top 5.

Ya but his draft grade was still really strong

As crazy as it sounds, Zeke was the reason the Cowboys window for a SB was open in the first place. His lack of dedication to the game led to his undoing because he was not in shape. Had it not been for bad QB play, cowboys would have been legit SB contenders.

the eagles don’t have that problem. We have an oline and an MVP type QB. Bijan helps us win especially with the tough damn schedule next season. The Eagles cannot win every game passing the ball. We will need a rb that can shoulder the load in those tough fought games.

Not sure what stepping on NFL field has to do with talking about a "prospect.” If you watch his tape you see the talent. Man killed it this year on a bad Texas team with zero playmakers and 3 true freshman starting on the offensive line. When Bijan comes into the nfl he will be a top 5 RB. If he is on the Eagles he will easily be top 3 or #1. The talent is undeniable. You know Shady keeps it real.

He actually has to do it on the NFL field is the point. I'm not arguing his skill at all but moreso value in the NFL in this era. And again how much better can he be than a Jonathan Taylor 2nd round type. Then to be considered a great you have to do it for at least 10 years. He breaks a lot of tackles right? That means he takes on a lot of contact which leads to these guys getting banged up more often than not (see zeke). RB has become an expendable position that no longer holds much value IMO. It's a passing league now. Nice to haves if you have a 3 down guy but if you want them preserved and fresh during post season you have to have a nice rotation and pray. Shady is one of the last bell cows that the Eagles will ever have.

In a redraft Taylor would be a first rounder. So what if I said, hey Tom Brady was a 6th rounder and Hurts was a 2nd so don’t draft QBs in the first. Or Mailata was a 7th rounder, Kelce was a 6th rounder, Dickerson was a 2nd rounder so no Olineman in the first. These this are mutual exclusive.

lol you realize all of these players in the draft have not played in the NFL yet right? Not just Bijan.

No to the Taylor point, Bijan is a better prospect than Taylor. Better receiver and has better quickness. Taylor just fast imo. With terrible QB play how did Taylor do this season?

That is incorrect. He does force missed tackle but most are from jukes. Think McCoy. When Bijan needs to he will run someone over but his game is finesse first before power but capable of both.

I don’t get it. The Eagles have drafted bust on the oline and dline in the first round. Y’all make it seem like lineman are guaranteed hits in the first. Get the best player available at 10 unless Carter falls. If not, what are we talking about?

We are talking about bpa versus positional value. And in it‘s extremes both do make sense. You wouldn‘t want to take a bad player at a position of high value over a star, yet if in doubt you prefer the player that plays at a position of high value.

As for RB, I remember campaigning for us to pick Fournette. I wouldn‘t do that anymore, RBs just burn out way too fast.

But hey, if we grab him in the first and win a SB - well played.

Bijan or bust

You're not following... I'm specifically addressing the hype of comparing any prospect to HOF players like it's a definitive. It's extremely premature. I don't mind comps as in style of play but many are saying he's going to 'be the next [insert HOFr Here]'. That's crazy talk to me given the many variables to success. It's literally setting the kid up for failure if he's anything less.

Further it's even tougher with RBs IMO because they get banged up so much and have a high propensity to being exposed to injury. Case in point Jonathan Taylor. He's a monster but his production last year was more so do to injury than QB. This is why he was drafted in the 2nd. RBs don't typically have a long tenure of high level play. It's a positional thing.

BPA on their board could very well be an OL.

I worried what will happen to @judunno if they do draft Bijon.

Why? I'd be fine with it and hope that he lives up to all of this HOF type talk. Having a elite RB doesn't hurt. I just don't think it's a necessity in this era from my modern day GM think mind :). My fan based mind like everyone wants a beast RB. This is how I lower my expectations on draft day... let me live it out :D

If that is the case, I am more than cool with that. Stick to the board. If Bijan is the highest guy on the board at 10 you draft him and don’t look back

Every year there is a "once ever talent". However I would like to see him on the Eagles but the offense is stacked already so not likely but adding him sure makes you wonder how unstoppable they could be.....
