Some people are over the top about it.  We have a salesman that will not go downtown without his gun, to open jobsites with multiple trades on site.

That's fine; some people prefer the hustle and bustle of an inner-city traphouse, while others long for the sweet serenity of a backcountry methlab. Different strokes for different folks!

From my deck, I have a view of about 30 miles. I can see the city from where I live, it's about 20 miles north.  Thats as close to it as I want to live.  I have 3 neighbors, 1 each on either side of me, both are atleast 500 feet from my house. The one behind me, is about 1000 yards back in the woods, no one across the street, it's township owned property they lease to a farmer, who usually plants corn.

There are more deer closer to my house than people. Last night I saw a fairly large herd of at least a dozen going into the woods from behind my horse fencing.  They come up between the houses when they travel from fields / or woods.

My closest neighbors

Yeah, that sounds nice. Personally, I think I'd prefer to be near the city but not in the city. I like having access to all the city has to offer, but when I'm home, I want space and quiet time. Also, I loathe people in general, so yeah, more deer and less people sounds good to me.

For the record, I left before the big jump in crime following the George Floyd riots, although I experienced my own personal crime wave.

sounds like you have a story to tell. personal crime wave?...do tell.

and repeatedly beating your deek like it owes you money...although personal...doesn't count as a crime wave.

this is where i am at. having grown up in the city, (ironically @Dave Mossin the olney section), i always defend the city as a whole. yeah i know it has it's issues, but it's my city and i know there are still plenty of great areas.

that said, F krasner.

Damn, you got me to admit that Olney is a sheethole then told me you were from there.

That’s messed up.

The people saying we should nix the filibuster to codify Roe are out of their minds. Not only would the legislation be pointless since it would ultimately end up before the same unfriendly Court, but doing so would make it that much easier for Republicans to ban it nationally the next time they have the majority.

it's all good. it's the reality of it. i mean it was an amazing section to grow up in, but not so much now.

fwiw - the biggest reason we moved out of the city was the schools.

Most people support a woman's right to choose within reasonable circumstances. Insanity that we're having this conversation in 2022.

Turn Tucker off. Realize that not everyone in this country is an evangelical Christian. Have deep conversations with people who didn't grow up like you did.

Not in Miami Beach - but my friends in Center City say the city never recovered.

A friend of mine with a shop at K&A said the National Guard was there with armored vehicles.  You think all that was caused by right wing Trump supporters?

we have a segment of the population flying flags with the F word on their front porches while decrying the erosion of american values.  i don't expect those folks to acknowledge the disgusting acts of the far right.

I don't think there's any doubt that the majority of people in the U.S. support legalizing abortion in the first trimester.   But legally, the issue is whether this one of state law or federal law.  From what I've seen, it's a state law issue.  Even RBG took issue with Roe v Wade from a legal standpoint and thought there were better cases than Roe to bolster abortion rights.

You'll see different results if you conduct this poll on a state by state basis instead of uniformly on a national basis.
