Sounds like obama

They were both good at firing up their base (though with drastically different approaches) but Obama's not much of a departure from a traditional Democratic.

Putting aside one’s stance on the issue, we should all agree that it is egregious and dangerous that this was leaked. Draft opinions should remain private and debated among the justices. Not every cas

I'm part of the problem by saying we should get the structure of representation back in line with how it was in 1787? Weird coming from an originalist like you, but ok.

Thats not what you are proposing. Saying it doesnt make it real. All you want is the mob rule the framers sought to avoid. And purely because the ends suit you

This argument amounts to "Just because our government is not currently under the control and made in the image of fascists, there is no fascism going around." Call it whatever brand you want, but it's creeping authoritarianism. You won't recognize the threats to our republic until its too late and the authoritarians are already in control. Ignorance really is bliss.

Good lord...do you believe monsters are in your closet too?

A small number of people did something monumentally stupid and should be punished to the maximum extent of the law, and yet the government still remains intact.

Loosen the clutch on your pearls.

That was only the beginning. They are already changing laws and removing officials in swing states in order to be able to pull it off next time by changing the certification process. Have you been living under a rock?

He's not exclusively talking about the people who raided the Capital.  He's talking about the White House's failed plan to install a dictator.  Those are the people that "should be punished to the maximum extent of the law" but, unfortunately, to this point, haven't been.  They're fascists, whether you want to admit it or not.

See the posted I quoted from JohnSnow above. I'm arguing that we should maintain a good degree of minority influence but get representation back closer to the proportions that were originally instituted.

Yes, I get that he passed tax cuts, which, for some strange reason, you think he didn't want to pass.

Did I say that he didn’t want to pass tax cuts?

The issue here is influence. Trump had an agenda which diverged from traditional GOP agendas.

He was not able to pass these things because he lacked influence within the GOP. The GOP would only pass what they traditionally would have passed anyway.

So, because the EC does not reflect a pure democracy, it is wrong.  Got it.

Tax cut my arse. He raised my taxes, just like Obama. Just like Biden wants to.

Did the plan come close to success?  No.

Had it, I would be among those to fight it.

The majority of his "endorsed candidates" have lost/are losing.  This is a very good thing.  Now just get rid of MTG and Cawthorn and the discourse will become less adversarial.

Edit: Rick Scott can go his merry way as well

It won't become any less adversarial than the discourse is in the general population.

Trump's agenda diverged insomuch as he was willing to do anything to stay in power, including sheeting on the constitution, which is what separates him from past Republicans (along with his willingness to divide the country at every turn).  But legislatively?  Tax cuts, failing to repeal Obamacare, screaming about illegal immigrants, those are all pretty boilerplate Republican issues.

Not the last. Just perhaps the most libertarian poster in the history of CVON. I mean, I'm not saying that, but lots of people are. And of course I add value. No one adds more value than me, believe me!

I disagree with that as well.

But this is no different than the 15 states and District of Columbia signing on to the NPVIC?

Where is your outrage over that?

  Good to know that if the right ever succeeds in transforming the US into a fascist dictatorship, that's the day you'll start fighting against it.  Until then, you'll just fight to make sure that no one calls the people trying to transform the US into a fascist dictatorship a fascist.

Also TEW: Trump definitely had the country headed in the right direction!

No, I just maintain faith in the institutions.

Oh, well when you put it like that, never mind.  In fact, in a way you're performing a public service.  By voting for fascists for high office, you're testing the efficacy of those institutions, seeing how well they hold up to the will of would-be dictators.  I guess I should be thanking you.

Just checking.   I guess you have to assume who I voted for.
