Nah.  The thing with Roe v Wade is that legally, it was a poorly reasoned opinion that read things into the constitution that weren't there.  Even RBG recognized this and as a judge, she was not comfortable with the opinion.

Putting aside one’s stance on the issue, we should all agree that it is egregious and dangerous that this was leaked. Draft opinions should remain private and debated among the justices. Not every cas

But there's still no engagement on the left. This is what happens when you don't vote: We get the government we deserve. It goes back to all these liberals and centrists who stayed home or voted 3rd party in 2016, when it was clear that that election would re-make the Court. As if a fascist on the ticket wasn't bad enough. I think a lot of this is on them.

And it's not like they'll even care enough to vote in November, either. They'll **** and moan for a few weeks, but they'll forget by the fall. Republicans will keep their base motivated, though. The left is as lazy as the right is crazy.

This BS notion of voting for the lesser of evils is just dumb. Hilary and Trump stunk so why people voted 3rd party. Put better candidates out and then people will vote for them.

I'm not talking about protesting and yelling on Twitter, I'm talking about what matters: Voting.

I agree, there's far too much disconnect there, but this gives the left a massive, long-term issue that they've been 100% ignoring at the state level, but one that aligns them with 70% of the country.  Getting out the vote is always an issue on the left, but this is a huge boost to that effort.

And, on top of that, it's an absolute disaster of a ruling for the long-term health of the Republican Party.  I know we make fun of the right because they're mindless cult members, but there's plenty of people in that coalition that have been holding their noses for criminals and scumbags in order to vote for this one issue.  That's all gone now.

100% this.  It's a part of their long game.

they'll manufacture another issue...it's what they do. hell, they're already on their way with crt & lgbtq issues.

If they come after contraception I’m gonna laugh my butt off.

Yeah, but even with their constant culture war drum beat, there are plenty in their coalition that aren't babbling morons (no one on this board obviously ) who had their eyes on the prize with this one issue.  It's the one thing (along with immigration, but that appeals to a different group), that's been holding up the tent.

Then after that, anyone who doesn't fall in line will be dragged off, chained to a wall and converted to Christianity.  Probably a good time to start an exit strategy.

And some think it's only the radical left going after civil liberties.

The radical left doesn't have supreme court justices. (Unless your definition of radical left is so broad that anyone left of Manchin is "radical")

If you scroll through Dobbs, you'll see that the Mississippi law that was upheld actually allows an abortion 15 weeks into a pregnancy.  That's almost four months into the pregnancy and well past the first trimester.  Those who support abortion rights should have left this law on the books and left well enough alone until Thomas is replaced with a liberal justice.

So, it's a 6-3 decision officially, but with some caveats. The Chief Justice concurred but filed a separate opinion. He basically wanted to eliminate Roe but keep abortion legal. He would've ruled that the MS law wasn't an undue burden under Casey but wouldn't have overturned Casey's analysis.
