Putting aside one’s stance on the issue, we should all agree that it is egregious and dangerous that this was leaked. Draft opinions should remain private and debated among the justices. Not every cas

Exactly, I have no idea why people are hung up on this. I guess they need something to cling to.

Suddenly we do seem to know the definition of "woman”. Perhaps a tiny step forward as a side effect of the ruling.

Not necessarily. If the law is based on sex discrimination and Equal Protection, instead of privacy, how then can the Court say it's decided wrong or Unconstitutional, if it is based on the Constitution, just as RBG suggested.

The Court will do whatever the hell it wants. They have no real legal principles. They're just making it up as they go.

Now that the ruling came down, we all agree that the leak almost certainly came from one of the right wing judges to soften the blow, right?

Yeah, up until this point November was going to be a bloodbath for Dems. This probably changes things a bit.

Nah, they'll whine for a few weeks and then forget about it and wake up on November 9th like, "Oh, wait...that was yesterday?"

I'm old enough to remember when the right used to complain about "activist judges"

I’m old enough to remember yesterday when the Supreme Court said states couldn’t regulate guns

No.

It almost certainly came from the left in an attempt to pressure SCOTUS against the ruling. The assassination attempt failed though.

Things have progressed generally in other areas, e.g. inflation, that I no longer see this decision as being overly significant come November.

Here's an idea: Put abortion clinics on federal property.

Democrats need to start understanding the art of the possible.

They can’t even understand the difference between a man and a woman and you want them to understand the law?

Look forward to the first criminal murder trial over a women who has a miscarriage. The GOP will claim she had an illegal abortion. The doctor who treats her to clean out the remains will be charged as an accessory. Nothing like punishing women and doctors.

  Yeah, a foolproof plan like drive to Maryland, sit in your car and call the cops on yourself almost certainly came from the top.

I might be wrong here, but I think this side benefit will be only temporary.

Round and round they go. SC says the court decision wasn't legal. Striking down legislation would be a totally different ruling. Democrats should play hardball. If they were to get a majority, they should stack the court

Yay. You just over took the lead for the dumbest post of the day. The former was joking, you are clearly not. Great Job.

United States v. Morrison: It's all teed up for them to strike down any federal law codifying abortion. The Court says they want Congress to act so SCOTUS doesn't have to, but then they invalidate Congressional laws. What they want is nothing done.

I’m about to do so again for half of the year, I vote, and I pay taxes. Drop the tax requirement and we can talk. Otherwise STFU.
