But I think it’s safe to say he’ll never be a great passer. You don’t just start reading defenses in an offseason. Or all the sudden have a strong arm. Deep ball accuracy could conceivably improve. Maybe going from one read to two. But I don’t see him all the sudden going through all his progressions from a clean pocket. The best we can realistically expect is two reads, and some extended play making where he maybe keeps his eyes downfield instead of running. But that’s still not what I’d prefer in a QB. I just see this differently. I think he actually tries to go through his progressions; the problem is that his feet aren’t always connected to his eyes so we can’t tell very easily. EDIT: Think this article touches on it. https://www.phillyvoice.com/jalen-hurts-eagles-qb-nfl-draft-free-agency-trades-offseason-nick-sirianni/amp/  Whoever taught the young man how to go through progressions didn’t teach him to attach his feet to his eyes. Which is plainly bizarre. Also helps explains why he was late so often last year.Â
May 14, 20223 yr Alabama and Oklahoma aren't probably the ideal programs for a QB learning how to be a pocket QB. And in his rookie season Wentz probably got the lion's share of attention from the coaches. Then Sirianni and Johnson come in "cold," with COVID and limitations on off-season activity. So it's not that surprising that Hurts' mechanics need work, the good thing that, unlike some QB in the past, he's not fighting change. I suspect come August, they'll look to build on what Hurts learned in California.

Not enough time behind one of the best OL in the NFL to hit him on multiple deep throws.  What a joke of a take.  Smith created more separation on a higher percentage of routes than any Eagles receiver I can remember other than TO.  Again - this was behind an elite OL (which I don’t think will be as dominant this year), and Hurts had no idea what was happening or where to throw it. You haven't watched too many Eagle games, have you? Maybe you missed the years DeSean played for them?

They pop up everywhere you go and/or live and it’s usually bc of insecurity stemming from childhood.  99% of Cowboys fans have never been to Texas. My wife and I just took a 10 day trip to Ireland with our then 7 month old daughter in February.  We flew into Shannon, I rented a giant van, and we did Galway, Blarney, Kilkenny, and finished up in Dublin.  One of the most incredible experiences of my life.  My only beef was literally the beef. Wtf do you feed your cows?   This went off in a tangent I wasn’t expecting. We feed cows grass here in Ireland. Why what was wrong with it ? Irish beef is well regarded around the world so maybe it was a once off.  Glad you liked Ireland and from the places you named you got a good spread of counties and parts of the country.  And yeah cowboys fans are the worst. I don’t like Stephen A smith that much but I love him trolling cowboys. That day after the niners loss was some of the best ever.

I wonder what Toth weighs now; he's athletic but he came here too light to be effective. They've bulked him up but how much an is it good weight? Hope you're right about Seumalo and curious, too, about Dillard. I find the whole Dillard thing interesting. That moron Kempski, asserted he couldn’t anchor in one on one’s with DL. That isn’t the point of one on ones.  For a guy playing OT, it’s the footwork and the punch.  Now a quick step or push is different than an OT with a slide step Dillard has really good handwork and better anchor than Kempski alleges.  I thought his weakness was power and the pictures suggest he may have solved that.  Now strength isn’t necessarily power. Opeta was combine lift champ. Unfortunately, his game reflects a power lifter from a lower college level.  Horrible placement. Bad use of legs for power.  Punch is over extended.

Nothing I can add would change the course of the narrative around this place, or mitigate the constant infighting. I'll check back when Training Camp starts. Don't expect much different. Certainly not on a steak or prime rib. It seems to be the vegetable equivalent of jam. Interesting... 1 part dijon mustard, 1 part honey and 2 parts mayo, with a nice dose of cumin makes an excellent spread for turkey sandwiches. Add some avocado slices and you are golden.

Smith is a better route runner within 12 yards of the LOS than DeSean ever was. DeSean intermediate and long ball game was obviously one of the best. Once the defender opened their hips to run with him he could stop and circle back or just run past him. Smith can get open so quickly to truly see him exploit a D the QB needs to get him the ball on time and accurately. Hurts, as every player, coach, and even Hurts himself knows, struggled to make those throws. If Hurts can make those throws this season it will go a long way to opening the offense, making double moves more effective, less wear and tear Hurts and the OL, more sustained drives, more points...

He got three solid prospects, a future 1st and 2nd, a top 24 year old WR, and replaced those last round picks with a huge UDFA haul. Can't play it much better than that! But some people will never be happy if they're denied their ITYS. Let's pump the brakes on two great off seasons. Still a lot of questions out there. Not trying to be negative, trying to be objective and look at things as a whole. 2021 off-season: FA signings. Joe Flacco, Anthony Harris, Hassan Ridgeway -Traded Carson Wentz for 1st and 3rd. The 3rd was used to trade up with Dallas for Smith. Took on largest at the time dead cap hit in NFL history. How would things have looked different had Howie just taken Jeremy Chinn? -Traded pick 6 and pick 156 for pick 12, pick 123 and 2022 1st. Pick 123 was Zech McPhearson. Players available at 6. Jaylen Waddle, Jaycee Horn, Patrick Surtain, Micah Parsons - Was trading a 1st and 3rd to get DeVanta Smith a good use of resources? Smith is good no doubt. Trading up for a WR2...not a good use. -Can Dickerson stay healthy and play back-to-back seasons and build off of it? -What is Milton Williams? -Is Zech McPhearson a CB2 or is he a backup? -Traded Zach Ertz for Tay Gowan and pick 166 in 2022. Walked away with 3 2022 1st round picks. 15, 16, 19 2022 off-season FA signings: Hassan Reddick, Kyzir White, Zach Pascal -Eagles trade 16, 19 and194 for picks 18, 101, 237, 2023 1st, 2024 2nd.   Eagles now have 2 1st round picks in 2022 and 2023 -Eagles trade picks 15, 124, 162 and 166 for pick 13 to take Jordan Davis. Can Jordan Davis be a dominant player who plays 80% of the snaps? Kyle Hamilton on the board. Also important to note that 166 they received for Ertz was used in the trade up. -Eagles trade 18 and 101 for AJ Brown. $100 million, 3rd highest WR contract for Brown. -Cam Jurgens in the 2nd was a reach but potential is exciting but also has huge bust potential. Another year Howie's 2nd round pick isn't supposed to see the field. -Nakobe Dean could prove to be the steal of the draft. -Johnson and Calcaterra are wildcards. Could be contributors, could be on the street. -yes, a decent UDFA haul but I would have liked to have more of the middle round picks where the meat of this draft was.   So after all of the wheeling and dealing over the last 2 years, which included trading your franchise QB, his $34 million dead cap (let's not forget the Eagles traded 2 1sts, 2nd, 2 3rd and a 4th to get Wentz) wound up with. DeVonta Smith, Jordan Davis, AJ Brown, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Nakobe Dean, Milton Williams, Zech McPhearson and an extra 1st in 2023 and 2nd in 2024. On paper, if you come away with 2 starting WR, LG, C and DT, LB and CB in the span of 2 drafts I would say that's quite successful and I can't see how any of us could complain about that. However,  If you look at the cost it took to get them however I think you can look at it as overpaying. Half of the trades Howie makes is to cover his own mistakes. Completely missing on Reagor and JJAW has had a huge impact on the last 2 drafts. Because Howie missed so bad on both of those picks he was forced to trade up for Smith and give top dollar for Brown. I'd pump the brakes on saying the last 2 off-seasons were great. The potential to be great is there but still lots of questions. This is a lame excuse. If they wanted to help with mechanics and everything else then they would have the team on the field for as many OTA's and minicamps as possibly, not the opposite. The only way his mechanics will get better are from repetition and muscle memory...not from classroom work, which is what the Eagles preached last year. They then proceeded to follow up that with having Hurts attempt all of 7 passes in the preseason.  Sure, there were limitations due to Covid but the Eagles did themselves no favors by being one of, if the the lightest practiced team in the NFL. May 14, 20223 yr I like Hargrave but he's not been consistent in his 2 years here. Last year he started off red hot then faded as the season went on. He's 29. I understand from a financial standpoint why it would make sense due to his cap hit but I think any extension over 2 years would be a mistake. I hope the Eagles learned their lesson with Fletcher Cox. We also have no idea how Hargrave will perform in this new hybrid 3/5 man front. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
