We didn't pass on Parsons.

It is customary for a GM to ask about the target player when trading a pick to another team during the draft.  If the Eagles had said they wanted Parsons, the Cowboys don't make the trade.  Further, they took our offer over the Bears' because it was only an two-pick difference.  Which meant they were confident that Parsons would still be there at 12.

Didn't think so.

What leverage does he really have?  He can try to make a fuss... but, he'd lose a lot of swag.  And the Eagles would still have the franchise leverage over him after that.  He'll play year 4.

The take is asinine because Tua absolutely has a similar ultimatum this year. Justin Herbert doesnt deal with the same criticism as Hurts because he's a significantly better QB. Eagles might've won 12+ games with Herbert last year and would be legitimate SB contenders this year if he was our QB. Bringing up Justin Herbert will never help you in defense of Jalen Hurts.

The Hurts and Herbert comparisons usually only come from race baiters who want to paint a narrative that anyone who thinks Hurts isn't as good as Herbert is because of skin color. I haven't seen anyone who isn't a race baiter try to make the case Hurts is on the same level as Herbert.

Of course... but if that guy is going to act like Hurts is more accomplished than Herbert... I wouldn't want to over pay.  

 

BTW... not sure every fan would.  Some think that SWAG and that pathetic playoff performance mean something.  But, Eagles go 9-8 in a crap conference playing one of the weakest schedules in the league and it means something to them.  Chargers go 9-8 in a very hard division, stronger conference and Herbert sucks.
