I am hoping so.  Let Miles walk for the comp pick ( hopefully ) and let Gainwell, Brooks and Scott be the future at RB.

And before you start in about Scott, he is fine as the 3rd RB, and always gets it done when his number is called.

Especially against the Giants. Giants killa!

#facts.  Need to know what we have in the young corners before the next draft.  Need to obviously replace Bradberry next  year, and Slay in the near future.  We need to get one of these young guys on the field to see what we have for the future.

There are always injuries, young kids will get PT if they deserve it.

The young DBs will be competing from TC, through out the season and on the PS. By the time Howie has to make decisions next spring, they'll have a much better idea what they have in these kids. Some will step up, some will be waived, and some will be stashed for further development. But they don't have to force feed anyone.

And I lost my big $$ fantasy league finals by one point because I did not put him in my lineup.

A QB away from NFC contenders. Sigh...

This roster is a Superbowl contending roster with a franchise QB.

We need to beg, borrow, or steal one of those ASAP.

This says to me they know already none of them would be ready this year. And it's not like any of them were day 1/2 prospects...they're all R4 to UDFA.

I would've liked to seen Josh Jobe get a shot at winning the job

7.5 but can reach 10 mil if I read that correctly

C'mon man...did you really think a rookie UDFA had a shot at starting? Even without Bradberry, the CB2 job was a competition between McPherson and Gowan.

Only things really quelling my excitement for this season is QB and RB

I'm praying Hurts can be a top 12 QB. As far as RB, I expect a big jump from Gainwell, and I also am keeping an eye on the Dolphins. Their RB room currently is: Sony Michel, Raheem Mostert, Myles Gaskin, Chase Edmonds, Zaquandre White, Gerrid Doaks and Salvon Ahmed. 2-3 of those guys will be cut and deserve a look.

As I said above, I agree. I think Gainwell takes a big leap this year.

That sucks. I'll start him in FF every time the Eagles play the Giants. Idc if he's not starting. He always fs them up

I think Jobe is better then those 2 so yes I thought there was a chance

He's saying they're a QB away.

I think Sanders availability is an issue. Also I'd like to get someone that just runs and hits the hole instead of trying to juke

I see your point and but the Eagles have had Troy Vincent/Bobby Taylor followed by Lito/Sheldon then Asante Samuel/Sheldon Brown and you had Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby. The Eagles have always had two young or in their prime CB together or at least in a position to grow together.

Vincent was brought in at 26 and paired with Taylor at 22.  Lito and Sheldon were brought in during the same rookie class and grew together.  Asante was 27 when he was brought here with Sheldon when he was 29.  Mills and Darby were both 23 in 2017.

I look at the defensive backfield like the O-Line.  Cohesion and continuity are SO important.  You want the same O-line to be paired together for years to come.  Look how the Eagles are lined up to potentially have Mailata, Dickerson, Jurgens as the cement blocks of the O-line for the next decade.

The d-backs have been a revolving door and a mess.  In your example, when Slay is gone and Bradberry is 30...who does he pair with?  the next 28 year old 1-year contract guy who's a Band-Aid?  Same with safety...there's no youth there and they will continue to roll in 1-year deal veterans.

We've been spoiled with having those defensive backfields that stayed together.  I think it's important that they try to build a young group that can grow and excel together.  No more of these fix it plans.

I’m guessing there’s going to be a corner added in the next two drafts they likely see as the eventual replacement for slay and/or bradberry. A lot depends on hurts. If hurts fails to be the guy then you have less picks to work with to find that corner. If he actually pans out then you have multiple picks to find that potential corner replacement.

safety is a whole other topic. I actually think they believe Epps can be a starter. Whether he can or not is another story. I think he’s an ok 3rd safety. Harris is the stop gap. I believe they thought they were gonna get Williams and ravens beat them for him. Backup plan was being back harris with better talent around him and then address it next FA (I’ve said for years eagles don’t value safety enough in draft to take one high after also being burned on Allen and jarrett. They’ll pay for safety in FA though).

they also have young corners who aren’t close to ready but seemingly they like. Whether or not they are actually good is another story. If McPhearson works out itd really help your bradberry and who else question.

Ah, thought he was saying we already were one because he viewed Hurts as a franchise QB. Thought maybe I already had enough internet for the day.

Not sure what an extension would look like for him but it'll probably be too pricey

I think Brooks is that guy. He's not flashy, but he hits the hole well, has good contact balance and breaks through arm tackles. Good size at 5'11" 213

Hurts is gonna get at least the first half of the season. Beyond that, time will tell.

Should be a good time when Strong leads the Birds to the big show.

I am curious how much time they'll give him if he continues to struggle to do anything in the passing game. The team is getting set up nicely

His fans and others are saying to give him the season but I'm not sure that'd be a good thing

Right, but we will have no idea what McPhearson, Gowan, Vincent or any of these guys can do if they keep bringing in aging vets.  Howie made the investments, as little as they were, in a lot of young CB.

I just want a complete overhaul of the defensive backfield.  That includes getting whatever you can for Slay in a trade.  Howie has invested as little as possible to improve the position group.  Blow it up, see if anyone you have is worth a damn and if not, attack FA and the draft next year.  Call the Bengals about Jessie Bates.

You're right though, a lot depends on Hurts.

Eagles added Haason Reddick, James Bradberry, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, and Kyzir White to the defense. Nuts.

It would be a good thing if you want the 18th pick in the draft.  And with the Saints adding Landry, that pick will be in the teens also.

IMO it depends on why he looks like he's struggling. If the WRs and/or line struggle Hurts should get an extended look. If the problem clearly lies with him - Line gives him time and receivers are getting open, it'll depend on how the alternatives look. Again IMO.
