I would be annoyed when people here would ask for Foles all day, but would it be truly different than now?

I think the Eagles believe Hurts doesn‘t care as long as he‘s the starter.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Blaming Lurie when JJAW was Howie's fault is absurd. There should be no discussion on which WR to take (Campbell or JJAW) during the draft. That needs to be decided pre-draft. That's on the GM.

But... we had the same thing happen the following year in Round 1 with Reagor vs. Jefferson.   It's almost like it's just a bad process over there or something.

Motion is still too long and over the top.  He also gets a little too tall, especially on his front foot.  Throwing elbow gets too far away from his body, a la Carson Wentz.

If you give him another 20 seconds he may be able to scan the field to look for secondary options

The Eagles having interest in Foles reaps of Howie getting a little too excited and cocky. He made a couple splash moves, got Bradyberry, and now he's trying to bring Foles back. Chill, Howie. This is how you start making poor decisions. Don't get too arrogant.

But... people were jumping back on board the Howie train.

I don't think bringing in BDN would've been anti-Hurts at all. Probably would've gotten him on a 2-year-deal at a reasonable rate. Great team guy.

Way more to do with Minshew than Hurts. Maybe there's an offer on the table they're hesitant to take.

Approachable and friendly barely cracks the top 5 as far as being an effective leader.  Unless you’re managing a bunch of teenager girls.

George Patton was extremely approachable and friendly... wasn't he?

He's had a couple of really good offseasons. He's done a very good job recently. I do worry that he gets over-confident and arrogant and does a Howie. Between the comments he made on radio "I got you!" to having interest in Foles, etc.

Yes. It would be an all timer. Foles vs Vick on steroids.

Feels to me like the people here who don‘t like Hurts will be asking for whomever is the backup no matter what.

That's always the concern.  He gets giddy about getting good press and makes foolish moves.

Sure, but if it was Foles there would be cult warfare. It would be months of nonstop memba 27-2? Memba philly special?

It's all splash and pandering, with little actual sense. It would be a stupid thing to do.

It makes the team better.

It makes no sense to undermine your starting QB with a move like that. How many times do we need to do that? Maybe that's the part of football that Howie doesn't understand. Wentz having to reclaim the starting spot after Foles won the SB was always going to be a difficult thing to do. Then you draft Hurts. Why the hell would you put that kind of dynamic on Hurts now? So half the locker room wants Foles to start?

Hubris has been his problem.

It’s why I will keep Game Pass this season.   Need to see if the changes at LB work and if there are adjustments made on the gaps.  Can’t fill all holes in one offseason.

I'm debating. Game Pass was just awful last year.

Nick Foles would only undermine Hurts if Hurts plays bad.  I mean Foles was a number 3 behind a rookie and washed has been last season.  If that scares Hurts, then he's not cut out for the job.

Nick Foles is the classiest teammate in the NFL. Always supportive of his teammates and willing to take on any role. Perhaps they QB room wants a model from which Hurts and Strong may potentially grow? Its only us idiot fans that will have a cow. Wentz is an immature, grandiose, non-leader -- an exception to teammates working together.

Yeah, it's not about scaring Hurts. It's about dividing the locker room. The move just doesn't make any sense. Nevermind that Foles isn't even that good of a player. It's all splash.

Howie is tied to every player. Eagles are interested in everyone. Foles is no different.

I think this was more about flipping Minshew for more draft capital than it was Foles.

Glad Foles is not here getting in Strongs way. Foles isn't the future.  Strong is.

I think actually signing Foles would be a horrific decision on multiple fronts: 1. Let Foles end his career here on a high note.  Returning as a well past prime backup just isn't the right way to go out.  The next time he's in the Linc should be to a standing ovation at halftime.  2.  Hurts, Strong, draft pick next year...whoever.  Foles is a great guy, but that's not someone you want on the bench behind you with his history here.  Any GM who invites that circus is irresponsible.

Now, interest as a courtesy to Foles to drive up interest from other teams?  Yes.  That's the right thing to do.  And I suspect that's what Howie actually did here.
