So if the Eagles suck from here on out, we got a new target to place blame on......Julian Lurie.

Hopefully Howie tries to use him as a fall guy and Lurie runs his @ss out of town.

He can inherit it, no problem.  Jeff bought the team, he has the right to hand it to his son.

But if his son has good ethics hed say "you know what, dad, I appreciate this but Id really like to work my way up and earn this on my own so no one thinks I was just given all of this without earning it"

You mean like going to Harvard, taking part in an NFL training program for executives and then getting a job with the team?

What do you suggest he should have done to earn his job? worked in a coal mine?

Some of you are going to lose your mind when lil' Howie Roseman Jr gets a job in the front office

Out of curiosity can you name a "qualified candidate" you would want to own the team after Jeff is gone?

Could you or I have done that?  No

Could he get a similar position for another organization?  Probably not.

Thats the point.  He was given an unfair advantage because of his name.

If you guys are all cool with this because other organizations or businesses have done it, great.  Good for you.

But my opinion is thay nepotism is bad and that is exactly what this is.   Dont give me the BS company line about how qualified he is because hes hung around the locker room and Lurie spent a fortune to send him to the ivy leagues.

Im not talking about ownership, that just takes an arseload of money.

He can hand it to his son, whatever.

Just dont give me a bunch of BS about how qualified he is and how deserving he is when we all know what's going on here.

Realistically Lurie's kid has been working with or for the Eagles in some capacity his entire life lol. Ball boy, locker room kid, interned while he went to Harvard, analytic team.

But I guess working for the same company for 27 years isnt long enough cause daddy owns it.

What ??  He worked for the company as a toddler, or while he was in elementary school, or in high school, or while going to Harvard ??  He may have worked for the Eagles for 5-7 years, but not 27.

Joseph Madden

Not me.  Way too small a sample size.  I thought it was a mistake to give him that $100 million contract so quickly.

I agree 100% but man the excitement of what it could have been, especially after that game.

Ok what was his position prior to this appointment?  What were some of his responsibilities in those roles?

I hear LeBron James wants to own an NFL team

2021 Forbes value of the Eagles

$3.8 BILLION.

Agreed, I want nothing to do with his son being groomed for any role with the Eagles.

Howie has competition for most punchable face now though

Why Julian Lurie's presence at the Senior Bowl matters; Eagles QB Jalen Hurts to undergo ankle surgery - The Athletic

Halaby is being groomed as his GM too

Yeah I live in a pretend world, thats the issue here.

Kanye West and Antonio Brown would have been perfect for Philly

Better question - Who had this position before Julian and who was this more qualified candidate to fill the role other then him?

Frankly, Julian Lurie should just say know thank you

Fixed.

we should get like a decade's worth of draft picks if that happened.

Not my problem, nor do I care to be honest

But we know he interned there (while going to some trash school Harvard) and it's been mentioned he was a ball boy and a locker room kid growing up.

Jullian at 27 has spend more time in NFL Locker rooms/training facilities than the Coach

So he is already "groomed" and some other team would agree.

Ramdon thought.  Does anyone have a vintage Reggie white jersey? I was thinking about getting one.  Seriously no debate hands down best Defensive lineman ever.

Yes. But I'm too afraid to wear it to games

No one, it's a made up position

I think you are missing the point. The point isn't whether or not life is unfair, and that certain people like Julian Lurie are born with huge advantages. No one is arguing that. Sure, it would be nice if everyone started out the same at birth, but it's just not realistic.

The argument is whether or not it is good for the team that Lurie's son is taking an active role in the organization that he will one day lead, and whether or not his life up to this point has reflected a commitment, or lack thereof, to the job that he will one day be handed.

You seem to want to turn this into an argument that society should be fundamentally changed, or that Jeffrey Lurie should tell his son to go screw himself, and that if he wants to own a team, he should buy one, when Lurie himself bought the team with family money.

Yeah if you have a small parts repair shop or something

Not a multi million dollar business, its not a good idea just like hiring people based on their skin color or gender

Hire the most qualified candidate, which I can guarantee he is not.  It wont sit well with his peers and god bless anyone who he comes into professional conflict with

And off the deep end you've gone

ESPN and CBS both say he is 6’. I’ll go out on a limb and predict he will be a 1st rounder. He had great protection ( he’d have that here ) but has very good escapability and I think better than Hurts from a qb perspective because he is always looking to throw while patiently looking for guys to get open ( reluctant to just take off ). Did not notice him rolling out much, just straight back but keeping plenty of distance between him and the rabble in front of him which Hurts sucks at. Sure he has elite talent around him but also going against elite talent. Still enamored with Herbert but Young could be a more nimble Brees

More nimble brees would be good, honestly I haven't seen him play much, his size automatically gives me pause

Be Interesting to see how he measures up at the combine, if he's under 6ft could give some gms pause, also not sure his hand size? If he ends up having baby Pickett hands gms again will give pause.

Not to mention 190-195 pounds is a pretty small frame for an NFL QB especially one that isn't a runner.

We'll see, I'm not rooting against the kid I'm just not a fan of small framed qbs.

Yeah

That would be the principled, ethical way of getting your son into the business.

This isnt Luries HVAC Repair.  The Eagles are worth hundreds of millions of dollars and should be scouring the earth for the best and brightest.

Its wrong, I dont care if thats the way its always been done.

 I own my own business...certainly not at the Eagles level, but I do about $3-4M a year in gross revenue. My son is only 11, but if he's remotely interested he'll be brought on when he's done college, and will eventually run most of the day to day until I retire and he fully takes over. You just sound bitter because your parents didn't provide you the opportunity...most aren't able to. Lurie is.

Junior Rotational Program, is that like summer camp for owners' children?

What other executive successes have come from this illustrious program?

And again, if hes so thoroughly qualified, he can get a job in another organization, no problem.  One where his daddy isnt the big boss.

Lurie is smelling himselg and has been for years now

 Why would he even want to go work for another organization? This argument is ridiculous.

That would be ethical though.

And again, hes not taking over as owner. Hes being placed in the organization along with other managers, executives, etc.  Imaging having a professional disagreement with this dude now.  He can just run to daddy, literally

So you're fine if he was some dope party boy who loafed around and was just handed the keys to the kingdom without attaining any experience within said organization...but you're NOT ok with him going to college, working his way up the ranks, and being given a management position? Holy ish dude, you're Fing obtuse.
