I really triggered a lot of people with my criticism of the obvious nepotism

And you guys will all be stunned when this doesnt work out.

Its weird how no one stays in our FO.  None of this is connected at all though

It’s obviously nepotism, but let’s not act like this is the first time this has happened in business and it doesn’t guarantee success or failure. There’s no difference to me between Lurie giving the team to his kid or selling the team to some billionaire. Tepper has been a disaster in Carolina since buying the team. The question marks are the same in both scenarios.

Lurie has been a great owner for this franchise. If he’s teaching his kid the way he does things and the strategies that have been successful for him, then I’ll take my chances with that rather than some other tycoon buying the team. It all comes down to surrounding your self with and hiring the right people.

Actually, you have made no point.  A kid who went to one of the top universities in the world, who has gone through NFL exec training, and his father owns the team got a job with the team, and will one day be the owner of the Eagles.  He has also been involved with the team his entire life, and has had other roles.

How would you have implemented him into the team to groom him to take over if you were Jeff Lurie ??

See this is what you don't get, he's saying it's unethical to give his son the team. He would have made him go work for another team and "earn his stripes" for some undetermined amount of time, rather than learning at the team he will eventually own. Jeff should give his business to someone who deserves it, you know like all the other owners when they buy teams and have been super involved in the NFL for their entire lives. He should just let that asset go or sell the team so that the NFL can choose some other business person who has no idea how the NFL works.

You suddenly talking out against nepotism is one of the funniest things I have ever seen on the internet.

Any team that doesn’t employ their future owner for on-the-job training is stupid as hell. His new position may as well be called CEO-training-wheels

Nepotism is a necessity when it’s the prerequisite for ownership

Going back to ownership.  What drives me a little nuts is the fact that we hear "there should be more black owners"...  I believe every franchise is worth over $1 billion.  There are only 15 black billionaires in the world.  Of which 9 are American.  1 of them is Michael Jordan who owns an NBA team.  I think there are only 2 or 3 in the U.S. who are worth more than $2 billion that it would take to buy a team.  Anybody think that might be a reason there isn't more black owners?

They just need more white owners to adopt black children, send them to Harvard, put them through internships and training programs, let them work their way up the organization, then...die, and leave the team to their adopted child.

Can add Lebron James to that now

Just have the state seize the team and give it to some BIPOC person.

I don’t believe that’s allowed. He’s effectively part of the Eagles ownership group and working for another team is a conflict of interest.

Don't we all want to leave something to our children? Is this suddenly a bad thing?

id leave. I left an upscale bar when the bartender looked....uh....unpalatable

Oh? He wasn’t your type eh?

This is one of the stupidest complaints I have seen in here. Why would anyone be so shocked and  upset that the owner is planning to leave the team to his son when he is done? And why is it a bad thing that the son is being prepared and learning the ropes?

People will complain about literally anything.

Did your dad not leave you his deep fryer basket or mining helmet to carry on his legacy? Like the amount of vitriol you have for a business owner integrating their family into the business, which literally happens with almost EVERY family business in history, is beyond laughable. Like I said earlier, you're bitter and jealous. Nothing more, nothing less. Be less poor.

Waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

He'll have no viable answer.

Wrong

And yes, I do have an answer to his stupid question just like Ill always have a response for the stupid, misguided points you're making

If it was my son I wouldnt create a position for him out of thin air.  I would make him go through a similar career progression as othera in his profession, not skip the line because daddy is the boss

That's the way it works now. When one person says something, it's the entire blog.

Luries son is not "learning the ropes" im this position.  Stop saying that.

Are you learning the ropes to run the company you work for?? No, youre doing your job that comes with its own responsibilities and requires specific experience and expertise.

If he was "learning on the job" he'd be an intern or assistant.  But hes not. He was given a job because hes the son of the owner.  Full stop

If youre fine with that, good for you.  I think its dumb.

So as I asked earlier, what position should he start with ??

Their upset because he didn't interview a minority first

Anybody watch Succession? It's a really good show that lasts about one episode and then Logan Roy just gives his company to some random person that was more qualified than his family.

Send me the org chart man, what the hell kind of question is this?   Its irrelevant.

Youre like assuming he MUST have a job in the organization somewhere because his last name is Lurie.  Like, he went to harvard.  Hes been hanging around all this time and he super duper loves the Eagles, so hmmm let me see here, where the hell can we put this guy?

Nowhere?  Ok then F it, we'll create a position for him

And you guys are all cheerleading this.
