Agony.

Flyers: let's have a roster of slow, lumbering forwards in a league built on speed.

Sixers: let's have a center focused offense in a league built on perimeter ball movement and shooting.

Eagles: let's have a running QB in a passing league.

Phillies: let's have a crap bullpen in a league where starters only go 5-6 innings.

It's like Philadelphia is stuck in the 70s.

Bring back the white helmets and green wings!!!

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Is he wearing a white helmet with green wings?   Then obviously not.  The white helmets went away in 1971, I believe.  Long before Vermeil came and had the open tryouts.

I don't care for your pedantics sir. I say good day!

That's Harold Carmichael. I think you found the right guy.

Is he the best journeyman qb of all time?

Fitzpatrick was a prototypical journeyman but shouldn’t  be mentioned as best anything.  He played 17 years and never even made the playoffs.  Typically unable to keep a starting QB job for any length of time once he left BUF.

He’s a more durable and careless Nick Foles, but without any of the postseason success.

So, as Foles is better, do we classify him as a starter or journeyman.

And, Curt Warner? Trent Dilfer? Jeff Hostetler? Doug WIlliams?

What is the criteria? SB wins. Longevity. HOF. SB TD catches.

I don't know, but I know it when I see it.

If you're an Eagles fan, you should be damned happy that Julian is being groomed to take over the team by learning every aspect of the organization.

He's going to be the CEO, which means he should have a basic understanding of what the people under him do so he can ask the right questions.

Otherwise you end up like the Flyers, with a rank amateur running the show, dependent on his 'advisors' to make decisions.

Given some of the losers who ran the team in the past (Tose, Braman), I'm happy the franchise won't be in the hands of some kid whose primary activities are chasing women, drinking to 4 AM and gambling on on-line casinos.

If it was my son I wouldnt create a position for him out of thin air.  I would make him go through a similar career progression as othera in his profession, not skip the line because daddy is the boss

So what should he be doing then ??  What is the normal career progression for owning an NFL team ??

He has no idea. He had a bad take, people called him out for it, and now he is doubling down.

Frank Reich was the best journeyman of all time. Greatest NCAA and NFL comeback games.

The other contender would be Earl Morrall, who took over for Griese and went 9-0, then 3-0 in the PO.

Why is he going to be the CEO?  Is this what we want?  An owner/CEO?

Those are two different things.

I dont want the owner meddling in the daily affairs of the team, its a recipe for disaster.

Im amazed people have a total blind eye to this with Jerry Jones in our division

Hey dumbarse, if you think I have a bad take put on your big boy pants and address me directly.

Being rich > owning the team > dying

Please provide a list of all the owners who are involved at this level....in "every aspect" of the team.

Jerry Jones, maybe Mark Davis, Al Snyder??  It doesnt happen because usually these guys are smart and humble enough to understand their limitations.

Our little buddy Jeff though, he thinks hes a made man now and hes the smartest man in the room.

Nepotism--playing professional favorites with family members in business or politics--is a controversial subject. But is it really so bad? Executives disagree. (Forbes obviously has no problem with it: The company was founded by B. C. Forbes, handed down to his son Malcolm, and then to Malcolm's four sons, Steve, Robert, Christopher and Timothy.)

Beer vendor................................duh

Oh look, the kid has been learning about the NFL for year.

Owner’s son Julian Lurie given formalized role in Eagles organization - The Athletic
Julian Lurie is now officially a member of the Eagles organization. Lurie, the 27-year-old son of Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, will have the title of Business and Football Operations Strategy, reflecting his involvement in both the football operations and business sides of the organization, according to a team source. The younger Lurie moved into a permanent office space in the NovaCare Complex earlier this offseason. "Obviously, he grew up in the family that owns the team,” Jeffrey Lurie said of his son at the league meetings in late March. "He’s an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He loves the Eagles, loves the NFL. He really has a great feel for many aspects of the sport. After college, he went into the NFL rotational program to learn much more about the business side and the league side from New York, working for the NFL for all those years. I’ve always, sort of like a lot of children of families that own teams, kind of (brought) him along in terms of I want to expose him to all aspects of both the business side and the operational side, the nuts and bolts, yet also the strategy side. He’s a real sharp guy

Really? How is this still a topic?

robert Krafts kid works in the organization. As does Arthur blanks son and daughter. Jeanie Buss did it with the lakers.  Art rooney 2 worked his entire life with the steelers until his dad retired. Mike brown of the bengals did the same thing before his dad retired.  And I'm sure theres literally DOZENS more.

Robert Krafts son is the president and everyone on earth knows Belichick has 100% control of the operations there

I can't seem to find anything showing Blanks children in official roles with the Falcons

Jeanie Buss is the owner and the Lakers have a management team who runs the basketball operations

Art Rooney, I don't know, seems a bit of a strange comparison since he bought the team in 1933 when the NFL was like 17 dudes.  But hey, Im sure Julian Lurie is the next Art Rooney, they probably drink the same macchiato

Are you upset that Julian is going to be given the franchise? Because it sure seems so.

Maybe "he" is Milena

Guys Im not kicking my dog, I just think its a stupid idea for the Owner to meddle with the team and think this hire is dumb.

I cant help that so many people responded to me.

I would prefer an owner who just funds the team and only intervenes when necessary.   I understand these people are billionaires and like to have a little fun with their teams. He can do whatever he wants.  He can appoint his pet Chihuahua as GM if he wants to.  Doesnt make it right.

Doesn't make it wrong either. If it's his, it's his.
