It's a terrible comparison, but what is Lurie supposed to say?  "Yeah we know Hurts ain't it but the draft class this year sucked and we couldn't/wouldn't spend a crazy price to get Wilson or Watson so might as well roll the dice with Jalen and see what happens while hedging out bets with future high picks!"

The dudes whole job is to make the team as profitable as possible. Part of that is hype. Makes zero sense for him to say anything else.

Of the blog, yes.  Lurie sees it, the whole world sees it.  Jalen Hurts is not only QB1 but QBFranchise.

Hurts is about to take a pretty hard turn off the Josh Allen career trajectory in year 3, so it will (regrettably) be a moot point pretty soon.

Take QB's out for a second. Would you rather have the Bills supporting cast or the Eagles supporting cast? I think Diggs & Brown are very close but id probably give the nod to Diggs. He's been more productive since Brown entered the league but he's also had better QB play. I think Smith/Quez> Davis/Crowder. I think Goedert is better than Knox & Howard. I think the Eagles Oline is better than the Bills Oline. I'd probably take Miles/Gainwell over Singletary/Cook as well. Am i being a homer?

No, that’s a pretty fair assessment

Yes. Be like Irsay, hold nothing back.

Allen had prototypical size, A+ arm, great mobility. Hurts only has one of those things, arguably the least important of the three, or at best 2nd.

Allen was worth it to wait a few years to develop due to his ceiling, Hurts is not. It's this year or bust for him.

A guy like Anthony Richardson is in the Allen talent mold. Big, tall, A+ arm, excellent mobility. A talent like that you can justify being a little more patient for, not Hurts.

You’re the most normal person in here.

Nothing.  He's supposed to say nothing.

How will crazy legs Laurie walk this back if Hurts sucks up the joint?

That's not how this works. Owners hype up their mediocre QBs all the time.

Mara in Daniel Jones:

Ross on Tua

Woody Johnson on Zach Wilson

Again they're selling a product. It makes zero sense for them to diminish their own product, regardless of how ridiculous their claims are.

He'll say nice things about Jalen, draft his replacement in a deep 2023, claim "it's a competition" even when it's not, and absolutely no one will care at all by 2024. Vast majority of football fans have short memories. Hell we've been hyped worse than Hurts.

No one should be saying anything negative about proven draft guru Jeffery Lurie. You all do endless mock drafts and maybe will get 2 to 3 good players. Meanwhile the head cheese is a perfect 3 for 3 in identifying Johnson, Mailata and Wilson.

Depends on what Davis you get consistently tbh. If he play like he did during the playoffs that’s pretty ridiculous. Tend to think he is better this year but I’d take smith. I think the biggest difference in the two teams is josh Allen. Why i said i can see hurts reaching his ceiling which i think is top 15 QB (likely 12-15 range) but if both teams are very good around them i don’t see hurts being able to beat josh Allen. Tbh i think josh Allen if the defense doesn’t show up for a game is good enough to potentially steal that game with his own ability. I don’t see hurts having that ability cause not many do in the nfl. It’s why when one’s become available you go after them. Lurie in the past has said he wants a QB that can carry a team in case everything around him that Sunday fails.

Quez could've had a very similar game vs the Bucs. There were atleast 3 TD's that Hurts either overthrew or didnt see because he was locked on his 1st read or bailed a clean pocket.

0:25, 3:20, 4:20, 6:20 & 7:55 would've been TD's/big plays with Allen at QB. Im sure the Bucs coaches & players could see Watkins open all game on the tablet which probably prompted the famous "This guy cant read" quote.

True but i trust josh Allen a lot more than hurts so I’d be less surprised if Davis was able to take a massive step up this year.

He couldn't read their defense and had no idea what they were doing.  His inability to identify Watkins as an open WR or deliver him the football were different problems altogether.  As we knew, he struggles with all aspects of passing as a QB.

I hope Reagor being dropped down the depth chart to the #4 WR means that DeVonta will start seeing those quick screens that they would throw almost exclusively to Reagor which he would always find ways to lose yards.  DeVonta has a Westbrook like shiftiness to him and we didn't utilize that enough as a rookie because they felt it necessary to force targets to Reagor every game and those were the easiest ways to get Reagor the ball apparently.

Right? Josh Allen out of the last 50 years of football has a top 10 arm if not top 5 if not top 3. Just in terms of strength. He has the best arm talent in the nfl. He had elite arm strength coming out of college. The only other Qb in the league I’d argue to be close to him is herbert or rodgers a couple years back. There was a reason before Allen’s last year at Wyoming Adam schefter was talking about him at the previous draft and GMs loved his arm talent but worried about his accuracy especially cause it wasn’t great when he faced good teams in college.

also the second part where lurie asks the question is completely erroneous. There’s a reason why Buffalo traded up to get Allen and coveted him. They thought he was going to be their franchise QB and they could fix the flaws in his mechanics which would help his accuracy. He developed into an elite QB due to the bills drafting him on him being their franchise QB.

Getting just a little carried away I think.

Oh yea no doubt. I expect all of our pass catchers from last year to take a step back in production with the addition of Brown because i dont believe we have a QB that can support all these weapons. Our top 3 pass catchers combined for 7 TD's in 15 games with Hurts. Thats like... not good. How much do we expect AJB to improve that?

I think Allen is top 10 for sure. I for sure think he has the strongest arm in the nfl today. Mahomes, herbert and rodgers are behind him. I think Mahomes has really strong arm but I’d take Allen’s arm strength over him. I think Allen in bad Buffalo conditions can still make some unbelievable throws. I think Herbert’s arm is up there with mahomes  the dime he threw against the giants was nuts

I’d argue his arm is right there with mahomes, rodgers, elway, Marino, vick and Jeff George (guys who I’ve watched at their primes). As well as everyone else you mentioned. I think favre definitely a guy I’d say has stronger arm. There’s an argument he could be in the top 5.

Lurie must be smoking the same rabbit tobacco rtk is
