Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni praised the work quarterback Jalen Hurts has put in to prepare for the 2022 season.

"I'm noticing a big difference," Sirianni said, according to ESPN's Tim McManus. "What I see is a crisper ball. The accuracy, I've been very pleased with."

Hurts has spent parts of the offseason fine-tuning his release and footwork. Alongside increased familiarity with the Eagles' offensive system ahead of his third season with the club, that's led to a quicker drop back and improved timing on his throws.

"Just being decisive out there on the field, knowing pretty much where I'm going to go with the ball based off the look that they give me. There's a natural maturation there," Hurts said.

Cool. QB with nobody around him can take his time and think about his mechanics while wearing shorts. let's talk mid November

Wrong. The team carried Hurts to the playoffs, not the other way around.

Dillard could start for quite a few teams without the team having to adjust to his skill set. Hurts can only start for a few teams and the team needs to adjust to him ....

Dillard is not starting for any teams.  Hurts is starting for a playoff team.

Hurts was a pretty big part of the teams success.

7th seed isn't anything to write home about like his stats. It's almost sad to compare them to anyone else in the playoffs. Being the tallest midget doesn't make you a giant, just makes you the least qualified in the contest of greatness.

I hear this talking point on the radio sometimes and it makes me roll my eyes; I think most rational people know Hurts didn't carry the team anywhere.  The Eagles had much better talent than a 4-win team would indicate -- the epidemic of injuries the past 3 seasons had an impact on overall performance.

When Hurts first took the field as a starter I didn't have any issue with it as long as he wasn't holding the roster back.  In 2021 the Eagles went 9-8 with Hurts, not because of him and not in spite of him.  They went 9-8 with him.

In 2022 I think we'll see the roster has reached the point where a bottom-tier starting QB is holding the team back.  We will see how it plays out.

My concern with Sirianni is players getting complacent and eventually just walking over him. I think the competition and fun and games was a good icebreaker to bond with the players, but I think he's leaning too hard into that with putting a hoop in the meeting room.

Abysmal production from QB1. It's not as if he was completely devoid of talent. We added one starting piece to the offense in AJB and now people are talkin about our supporting cast being one of the best in the NFL. One piece doesnt change the narrative THAT much. Bottom line, dude had a top 3 Oline, what i believe to be two pro bowl caliber talents in Dallas & DeVonta + a legit deep threat in Quez. He held those guys back but Hurts stans will have you believe that it was the other way around.

Love how simple minded this conclusion is

Is the team not practicing today or is it just not available to the media? Coverage has been awful this year

I think it's a game of chutes and ladders and then a swag contest.

Still out on Sirianni.  And news that he handed the play-calling over to Steichen halfway through the season just confirms what I have thought all along.  The "scheming guys open" crowd will not admit that the offense improved once NS gave up the play-calling.  They'll just put it on Hurts.  When in reality, both guys are not the long term answer.  More people will join me as time goes on.  I'll allow it.

I don't think Sirianni is McVay or Shanahan.  I don't think a team needs to have some super genius schemer to win. He changed things up when he needed to and got a pretty mediocre team to the playoffs.   There have been plenty of coaches here that have looked good for one season.  I generally think the team made a mistake when they let go of Doug but I think Doug was too loyal to some mediocre coaches.  Sirianni may swing to the Ray Rhodes or Rich Kotite spectrum but he doesn't seem to be bad at organizing the team and having them prepared.  He could also look like a great coach if Hurts looks like a good QB or they get a good QB.  I disliked the hire initially.  He did OK last season.  He has higher expectations this season.  Let's see how the team does.

Mea while yesterday you're making a post about QB comparisons of Jalen Hurts and of course the comparisons were either Tyrod or Dak, black QBs.

How about Hurts is a poor mans Baker Mayfield? Or can I not say poor?

Could we open a seperate blog for all the Hurts bashers to post ad nausem?

I mean at this point it's a total waste of time, we'll find out in September whether he's improved - until then the horse is not only dead, but flayed to the bone.

Meanwhile, encouraging words from our Jolly Black Giant:

"We put in that work, it’s obviously just gonna fall off. And just keeping in mind, I’m getting paid to do what I do. I’m getting paid to be at my peak. Just working down and cutting down. You can’t just go out and eat everything in the world. You have to have everything in moderation.”

Nice to see a kid who understands it's a job, and getting in shape is part of the job description.

Even major college programs don't shape these guys like a good pro training regime, I'm looking forward to a trimmed down Davis.

Not available to media. Not sure anything besides the one day will be open to them since tomorrow is the last.
