I blame ESPN for poaching people like Tim McManus and thus killing good sites like Birds 24/7.

The Athletic used to be really good but that site has gone so far down in quality.  Hardly putting out any content when they used to have new articles almost daily even in the offseason. Bo Wolf thinks himself some sort of comedian who has to shoe horn his politics into everything.

NBA Finals: Celtics vs Warriors gets lowest Game 1 rating in June since 2007

Then the NBA had best get back to the drawing board.  I watched the 2nd quarter and quickly tuned out.  It's not interesting nor entertaining.

NBA Finals ratings up 37% from 2021 series

Ratings for Game 1 of the 2022 NBA Finals are the most-watched in 3 years.

Interesting takes in here. I’d rather watch good shooting than dunking any day. I don’t really understand the dunk thing. I guess because regular ass dudes like me can’t do it.. makes it more interesting? It doesn’t really take any skill at all. It’s like a tall person grabbing a dish off the top shelf.

Are there only those 2 options?  What about cuts and passes?  What about the mid-range jumper?  What about a post-up?  There's far more to the game of basketball than the dunk and the 3 point shot, or at least there used to be.

May as well watch the WNBA

Funny enough, Nash was probably one of the best shooters ever. He played the team game though, didn’t just jack 3’s before the offense was set. That’s what frustrates me the most with the NBA today. Over half the game seems to be jacking stupid shots before anyone is set.

I agree he probably could have been if that was what he tried to do. Like I said his ball never even touched the rim. Very rare. And he could do it off the dribble on the move around screens he can do it in any way possible. Not just a set shooter.

I wasn’t trying to compartmentalize it so much. More just making two statements. I enjoy watching shooting. I don’t get the dunk hype. Also enjoy passing very much.

I like all the aspects of the game.  I don't like that the NBA doesn't include full court pressure.

Caplan and Mosher bashed the Eagles OTA's. Nothing overly interesting, basically just they did next to nothing. The first hour of practice was stretching, individual and ST drills. The last 15 was 7v7's and mostly backups. Hurts rolled out of the pocket on one play when there was no pass rush.

Yesterday's practice was 35 minutes.  Hurts attempted all of what 5 passes?  One play he was "sacked"...during 7on7.  I really think the minimal on field practice time is a mistake.  They can say they are healthy but injuries can happen in the weight room, on 1 play out of 5 or during a 2 hour session. IMO, this team needs as much on the field time as possible.

I don't think OTA's matter at all, one way or another.  It's still more than 3 months away from Week 1.  The only purpose I see is a way to make sure players don't show up for training camp out of shape.  If a player looks sub-optimal (physically or mentally) it's a good check-in point to step on them and make sure when the actual training camp arrives they're ready to go.

I don't think it matters much for veterans or starters, but I think they are doing a disservice to the bottom half of the roster. Why not just have all 10 days and have them voluntary? I bet you undrafted guys or players getting their one and only shot in the NFL would show up for the reps. They said the only 7v7 yesterday was Hurts and Minshew. I bet you Sinnett and Strong would have liked to get some reps in.

How can practice not help though?  Reps build muscle memory.  Reps build consistency.  Reps build on field communication.  Reps build trust in your teammates.  Do all of this at OTA's and TC becomes more about install and fine tuning.

While other teams (besides the Bengals) have been conducting on field, 11v11 OTA's, the Eagles have been focusing on fundamentals.  Sorry, these are NFL players.  Fundamentals are important and can only be fine tuned but to be the focus of the off-season seems a bit silly to me.

The NFL has already limited the on field time that teams have.  The Eagles have said F that we don't even want to use that time.

Yes, if you strictly like lay ups and missed lay ups and pretty much nothing else.

Down with Covid for the 2nd time and since I didn’t pay attention to it months ago, WTF is going on with golf?
Aren’t golfers pretty much independent contractors?  Why would playing on a 2nd tour that only has like 8 events be such a big deal?

Agree here. I don't really care for OTA's that much as they are mostly getting on the field together for the first time. But those reps are valuable for the bottom tier roster, and they were not able to get that opportunity. I definitely don't want them doing this during training camp and pre-season though. Took them till at least week 8 last year until they looked like they had it somewhat figured out.

Back to NBA for a second, how can you not love great shooting.

Good high school basketball is better than the WNBA.

I dont understand the dunking thing either. Dudes are 6'6'+ big deal.

I like to watch half court sets, passing, physical play. None of which happens now a days.

If Draymond Green played in the 80s, (or played hockey) he'd get F****ed up so many times he wouldnt dare open his mouth

For those that say the Warriors just shoot 3's probably don't watch much of them.  They actually move around, cut, pass, etc.  It can be fun to watch.

WNBA works at a 12-15M dollar loss each year.

The fact that they still remain in business is laughable.

And they still have a strong backing of people who think they deserve salaries equal to the NBA.

I don't understand it.  The red flags should have gone up much faster?  66 different massage therapists in 17 months.  That's crazy.  Is there more outside of this timeline?

I think you underestimate people's not wanting to deal with the trauma by complaining and the willingness to ignore victims in this circumstance.  I mean look at how much Watson's attorney was in communication with the DA on this. Hardin absolutely influenced what the DA presented as potential evidence to the Grand Jury.  It was a fraud of a process designed with an outcome where the DA did not get a finding of probable cause.  He may have recommended no bill be returned.  He certainly allowed Hardin's slide presentation to be presented to the Grand Jury which he did not have to do.  There may be reasons he wanted to have the slide presentation used because ultimately a charge needs to potentially result in a conviction.  I don't think he had any obligation to present it.  He certainly could have marshalled much more evidence than he did to pursue charges.  He mailed it in.

What do you mean?  They were awesome at the beginning of last season.  The lack of on-field reps had absolutely no negative impact on the team, whatsoever, even when they were bringing in a completely new coaching staff and systems on both sides of the ball.  This year, there's no continuity.  I don't know why they need OTAs at all this spring.  They should be able to just do everything over Zoom.

Reps always matter, especially for the young players, new players and players on the fringe.

I was intrigued by the "experiment" last year, as I figured we were in for a bad year anyway, and maybe the new approach to training camp could work. It very clearly didn't, but here we are again repeating the same mistake. Frustrating.

I agree.  I am not sure that full on practices at this point would really improve the product.  I don't think this will tell us anything about the team.

Can thank sarver the suns owner for likely not winning a title as he was cheap and didn’t want to pay Joe Johnson.

In a vacuum, you're right. But to me it's a harbinger of what's to come in TC
