3 point shot and floor spacing is how you attack zone defense. This isnt your man on man 90s anymore lol. The rules of the game are why the game has changed and the players have adapted to it.

Yup and I don't enjoy watching it as much.

Defense is non existent, center and post up play is almost non existent, I grew up watching the Knicks bulls and bad boy Pistons where winning scores were 89-85 in tough gritty hard nosed ball, not 132-128 3 point contests.

It's the same in the NFL where defense and running games are secondary to fast pace scoring offenses.

I miss seeing defense in the NFL and the NBA .

4 Eagles players most likely to make "the leap” in 2022

Jalen Hurts

Quez Watkins

Marcus Epps

Milton Williams

I predict all 4 will underwhelm this year. It’s my Bacarty hot take of the day, hoagie mouths!

Tim Hardaway was the king of that in the 90s. I used to love his game back then.

Tim Hardaway and the Utep 2 step.

He was one of my favorite non jazz NBA players, he and Stockton had some epic battles!

I wanted to ask how hoagie mouth is an insult. I love hoagies.

Quez first

Williams second

hurts third

epps fourth

there's an argument for Bryce Harper might be the best player in the city. He’s on pace this year to finish .305 avg, .365 OBP, .628 slg, 46 HRs and 138 RBIs. Could make the case for a second straight mvp (doing so on a elbow that likely requires Tommy John at year’s end)

Harper is balling this year.

Shame the Phils stuck him with this roster.

How can practice not help though?  Reps build muscle memory.  Reps build consistency.  Reps build on field communication.  Reps build trust in your teammates.  Do all of this at OTA's and TC becomes more about install and fine tuning.

While other teams (besides the Bengals) have been conducting on field, 11v11 OTA's, the Eagles have been focusing on fundamentals.  Sorry, these are NFL players.  Fundamentals are important and can only be fine tuned but to be the focus of the off-season seems a bit silly to me.

The NFL has already limited the on field time that teams have.  The Eagles have said F that we don't even want to use that time.

Fundamentals are critical and far too many teams and coaches ignore them on the assumption that players at this level already have them.

They don’t.

Why is Stoutland the best OL coach - and probably best position coach in the league? Because he teaches fundamentals. Every. Damn. Day.

Andrew Thomas on the Giants was a great college tackle but was horrible his first two plus years in the NFL. Why? He got by in college on sheer talent but his technique sucked. It was only in his third year that he started figuring it out and now he’s on his way to being good. Sorry to say, but with Evan Neal the Giants could have two high quality OTs.

Getting back to coaching fundamentals, remember how bad Vaitai was when he first had to play? Absolutely no technique. Stoutland turned him into a pretty good player by teaching fundamentals over and over and over. Conversely, Jack Driscoll lacks high end talent but has excellent technique. He’ll never be all-pro but he can play pretty much anywhere on the OL and do it well, an incredibly high value when you have to cut down to your game day activations. I expect the Eagles to activate eight on game days - Mailata, Dickerson. Kelce, Seumalo, Johnson, Dillard, Driscoll, and a player to be named later. Sua, maybe, if his get-off is quicker. Otherwise probably Jurgens.

Returning again to fundamentals, when training camp rolls around they’re putting in plays, schemes, working out audibles, blitzes, blitz packages, blitz blocking responsibilities. At this point, hopefully, the players are strong on their fundamentals. But that hope had better be because at some point (like now) the players have gotten good coaching on fundamentals.

It is NEVER wrong to teach fundamentals.

I think Milton Williams could be quite good

Epps I'm not sure about

Watkins might might take a step back with fewer targets

Quite skeptical on Hurts, but the weapons are there for him

I wish Jay Cutler had interest in doing TV again.  He was hired to be a commentator for Fox but then came out of retirement for the Dolphins when Tannehill tore his ACL.  Never went back to Fox after that.  He would have been great.  Funny dry wit to him.
