I was, you traded up for pac 12 LT who had issues in pass blocking.

In recent years the Dillard and Hurts picks are my two most hated.

I understand Hurts but hating the Dillard pick makes little sense. It makes way more sense to hate the Reagor or Barnett pick.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

The fifth year option salary will be the average of the ten highest OTs in the league. Of course they wouldn’t exercise it. It doesn’t preclude the resigning him.

I think they will re-sign him if something happens to Lane this season.  My guess is they would also invest a pick at the position but I don't think they would let him go if they believe Lane isn't going to be healthy.

I'm still pissed we took Reagor over JJ. I had JJ all the way along with every other sane person on the planet. Worst pick since MS2

Worst pick since JJAW In 2019.

No one outside of Philly would say this. Been saying it for a year and a half… While Mailata is good (the upset is even better), he’s still, by far, the most overrated player by Eagle fans.

He still has trouble in pass protection vs speed rushers. Thankfully you can hide that a bit in an offense that wants to run 60% of the time.

I know PFF is wonky but they had him graded as the 2nd best LT in NFL last year.  He's young so he might not be rated as highly as some of the vets who get more accolades then they deserve based on past performance.  Like dudes in the NBA making all-star game and not playing one regular season game

I'd imagine you have more than a fair share around the league that don't have good starting LTs.  Just like every other position.

There’s a big difference between "not having good starting options” and "Andre Dillard is clearly better than our LT based on extraordinarily limited game tape.”

Unless your point was that Dillard IS a good starting LT

I'd say its nearly impossible. His 5th year was declined, and he's set to be a free agent. He'll get a deal somewhere that makes him either more money or more likely to play. Wouldn't make any sense for him to stay here.

I understand your point, and I would have agreed with you last year, but the idea that teams rotate DE’s and Barnett still didn’t get a longterm offer despite the experience he has… it is possible.

I’d argue reason Barnett didn’t was cause he commits horrific penalties that hurts the team and I’d argue has been the same player or even regressed over the past couple years

My my point is that Dillard is not a good starting LT.  If he was teams would trade for him because it's one of the most important positions in the sport.

If Mailata wasn't here, Dillard would still not be a good starting LT.

Looking back at the 2019 draft...sigh

"We are seeing all of this from the Eagles' 2019 draft class, which is on the verge of becoming a colossal bust. That begins with general manager Howie Roseman and trickles down to former head coach Doug Pederson to the players themselves, primarily first-round pick Andre Dillard and second-round pick J.J. Arcega-Whiteside."

That was bad too LOL

The 2014-2017 draft classes in totality didn't leave the Eagles with much talent in the long term.  Seumalo and Barnett are the only players out of 29 total picks still with the team from that period, and were Seumalo and Wentz the only players to get signed to second contracts (beyond one-year deals)?

It's a good illustration of where a team is in its competitive cycle.  Cap room during that time helped bring in really good FA signings and achieve the ultimate goal of a Super Bowl title at the end of the 2017 season -- despite some spotty drafting.

I didn't see him on any mocks either, when he was drafted I had to look him up because I had no idea who he was, granted I wasnt as into the draft that year as I had been in previous years but still the JJAW pick at the time was a head scratcher.🤷‍♂️

If OTA Jalen Hurts shows up in 2022, theEagles could be Super Bowl contenders

Is the improvement for real?

One thing that is unquestionable is that Hurts has improved. His release is better. His confidence appears greater. And for the first time since Hurts played at Channelview High School in Texas, he will be in the same offensive system for the second year in a row. His familiarity with what Eagles’ coach Nick Sirianni likes to do can only spell dividends.

"He just has a relentless effort to be great,” offensive coordinator Shane Steichen said about Hurts. "Every approach he takes — he doesn’t have an offseason. He’s always on it. He’s always thinking about football. We’re always talking football, day in and day out, and he’s continuing to grow as a player, as a leader, every single day.”

It's all a grand conspiracy.  Everyone in the media and in the outside world outside of this blog that is in anyway positive about Jalen Hurts is trolling you.

Lol let those stupid lofty expectations pile up

The commish of the league came to be mid year and asked if I wanted to be an asst. coach. I assume that meant my son would likely be on it.

Realistically he's probably way above average with the glove, when you compare him to the ENTIRE league, but compared to the All star caliber kids he's probably bottom tier. But again, his bat is top 3-5 in the league.

With all that being said, I shut that down before he couldnt even finish the sentence asking me to coach. I dont need a 7 year old losing out on his summer, nor do i want to lose my summer. I'm a firm believer in kids being kids this young. Summer, swim clubs, the beach. Other sports. Just yesterday I flipped on the LPGA yesterday and he asked if we could go to the driving range this week.
