The cowboys, whom I think we agree that we hate them but they draft well, have 11 SEC players going back to 2010 and more surprisingly... 19 from the big 10. Dallas also tends to draft well because they seem to sniff out all the players that drop due to red flags

My thoughts are the Pac12 and the big12 are such cupcakes that I dont care if we use every pick for the next century on nothing but Big10 and SEC players. Got in this argument around draft time about Utah products. I'd rather have the 5th best D-end from SEC then the best D-end from the pac 12. Same with the majority of positions Trust me, I know you guys are going to show me outliers but it's a gut/eye test thing with me. I was meh with the Reagor pick. I wanted nothing to do with JJ and wanted them to trade back and maybe get Patrick Queen or a CB instead.

Wants to run 60% of the time? Or has to run 60% or more because the passing game isn't working? I'm not at all certain Lurie wants to run 60+% of the time.

They play against tougher competition and generally produce higher end talent. Of course big schools have busts, but at a much lower rate than small schools. For every guy listed above from a small school, there are probably 5-6 from those 10 schools. Is that true? I would think smaller schools would have a higher variability in bust rate but a lower overall level.
June 14, 20223 yr 3 hours ago, Bacarty2 said: First, you can throw QB's out the window when it comes to conference play. These big schools take the most athletic kid with a decent arm and run systems/run schemes and it usually never translates to the pros. But as far as position players and conference play.... what you did there is call an outlier. 533 of the 1696 players in the NFL..or about 30% of the entire league comes from 9 schools. That means of the 771 other colleges they produce 1163. So you can 1, go find a needle in the haystack with the other 771, pray to get lucky, and I'll suggest keep going back to the bountiful well in those top 9 schools Well over 600 of those other colleges basically do not even try to produce NFL level graduates. The point is to always get your evaluations right when taking into account each player’s circumstances, not make "draft from the top 10 schools” a requirement.. Sometimes the opportunity at your draft spot will be in those top 9 or 10 schools (about 30% of the time according to your numbers), sometimes in the rest.

Sure you can find a good lawyer at your local community college but the big firms go for the powerhouse schools like Harvard. Yale. Brown. LOL, you are making this too easy. Brown literally does not have a law school. I am certainly not saying avoid those ten schools — there are a lot of terrific players there. But giving a boost to players from those schools though is a mistake if your player evaluation on a player from the rest of the schools is higher. If that player does not pan out, the problem is not your drafting policies, the problem is your player evaluation.

I think a potential danger in taking prospects from top schools like Alabama And other stacked college programs is that some of those players look better in college due to being surrounded by a lot of really good players Call it the Alvin Harper affect. Harper was great as second fiddle to Michael Irvin, then Tampa paid him big in FA to be a number one WR and he fell flat on his face as he didn't have a bunch of guys around him to take attention off him. Same can apply to big college programs, where as sometimes at smaller schools one may be the only NFL talent on the team and gets all the focus of defenses or offenses and still produce.

Everyone after is signed. So I'm guessing agents are waiting for something or someone else at the moment.
