I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Meh. I don't expect them to get big names everywhere but this feels like a lateral move from Epps/Harris. I guess the depth is nice if nothing else.

Not that this one play makes the player, but I remember watching this live

It would be funny if he took Zach Pascals number.

I think he's at least a little better than Harris. Haven't seen enough of Epps to be sure. Either way, if one of Epps or Harris is a disaster, Tartt is at least a good fall back option.

You are talking to the only poster I know of in here that played big college OL.  I will trust his knowledge on this. They aren’t getting timing down in May/early June.

I played college DL...granted it was D3 but I still have some knowledge of the position.  Just differing opinions.  I think the more repetition the better.  Contact or no contact.  And let's face it, even in just helmets, there's a helluva lot more contact than you think.  To me, the communication and cohesiveness that can be gained by OTA's and mini camps can go a long way.  It's just me opinion.

Injuries seem to be his biggest problem

How much shorts on shorts 11 on 11 did you do in spring practice?  Not talking padded, but no contact basically touch football.

Tartt is an NFL starting safety. Faster than Harris, which is much needed.

Eagles are pretty talented across the board right now. Making it tough for Hurts or Gannon to have any excuses.

College rules are much different than NFL rules, especially when we're talking 20 years ago.  Spring ball for D3 wasn't even a thing.  It's irrelevant because the NFL and college offseasons are so different.  College spring ball, you might be trying guys at new positions, have freshman working inn, guys who aren't even developed yet and so on.  I can tell you I never had an 11v11 non-padded practice that I felt was a waste of time.

Like I said, even without pads, you're going over assignments, communications and all of those parts of the game.  If you can work on that in the spring and get it down so Kelce and Seumalo are working seamlessly, that's one less thing you have to worry about in TC.

I also can't stress enough how important it is for Hurts to make as many throws in practice behind OL/DL activity.  He already doesn't trust his OL and bails way too much in actual game play.  If he can practice, even if in shorts, behind his OL doing work, it will only help.

Again, I'm old school.  I think the more you're on the field as a team the better.

Hopefully a low cost deal with little in guarantees.

Odd signing. Tartt always seemed like a SS box safety type that can be picked on in coverage. Hope he is just depth. Maybe writing on the wall for Wallace.

In case there are still folks who don’t believe Hurts will be taking the Kyler Murray approach to a contract extension as soon as the season is done

You know who never played big college OL?  Jeff Stoutland.

He barely got above league minimum last year and sat around this long and is now 30. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t.

He isn't anywhere near that level yet but months ago I pointed out that the way Hurts talked about himself and the videos of himself gave me Cam Newton vibes.  You never know how people will react to success and limelight.

Yes, Hurts comes off like a likeable and nice guy.  However, there doesn't seem to be a photo opportunity this guy doesn't find.  Serving crawfish, painting a kids wall, working out etc.  Half of it is media driven and focusing on him and the other half is Hurts is eating it up.

What we are witnessing is the birth of a brand.  Next is to see how he handles it.

Hopefully better than what the Bucs were throwing at him

Yeah what an a-hole diva this Hurts is.  Serving crawfish, painting a kids wall, what's next?  Is this **** going to be doing some Make A Wish visits or help rebuild some family's home that got destroyed by a tornado?

Guessing you are missing the point that it feels like photo ops. He may genuinely be doing all of it, but he is not shy to let the world know he is doing it

Putting all that  aside, he still can’t play qb

He’ll write a letter next

I guess you were today years old when you figured out the pro athletes might attract media attention.

What's your next discovery, that companies might think that famous people might help them market their products?

I think you are making a pretty good argument that you are more shalo than deep.

Athletes get attention.

There is a difference between not liking him as a player and hating him for everything he does. It’s an agenda for many posters at this point. He even got hate for writing a letter about Washington’s stadium.

Carson Wentz and Chris Long both had multiple media stories for their charitable acts. Wentz has his own clothing line. Yet the same hate wasn’t applied to them for that stuff.
