This is an insane take. Wentz burned a ton of bridges in Philly, then couldn't last the year in Indy. Everyone in Indy buried him on the way out. He choked away the playoffs against Jacksonville.

Adam Caplan is slowly losing as his sources go away.

he never had any sources. It seems he is just losing his marbles.

Saw some reporters say they wanted to give James to catch on somewhere else before TC started, but not sure if that was reporting or theorizing. He since signed with the Jets.

Well Eagles do have a track record of doing that so theory or otherwise, it makes sense.

Wouldn't mind seeing a RB or DE brought in.

The outlook at DE is pretty bleak.  It's a huge need. Yea yea, they signed Reddick to rush the passer.  I need to be sold on him playing in Gannon's defense before I say he's an answer.  They have absolutely nothing as far as up and coming talent at DE.

BG- 34, coming off major injury,  99.9% his last year here.

Sweat-  Average to above average starting DE in the NFL.  Nothing more nothing less.  I'm a fan of Josh Sweat but he should be a DE3.

Barnett- like BG, 99.9% he's not here next year.

Jackson- DE4 by default, shouldn't be more than that anyway.

Leo- Is he an Eagle until he doesn't want to play football anymore?  Either way, he has no future as an actual gameday NFL player. Honestly why is he even on this team?  6-7, 280 pound DE are not what this team uses.  Has he ever even made a preseason tackle?

I think we need to look at SAM/OLB rush linebacker like a DE.  Plus I expect Milton Williams to play so "DE” in some fronts.

Figure Leo is a PS player as long as he is "free” of roster cost.

It should be noted that Noah Ellis had a $240k guarantee.  I suspect they carry five DTs.

The other $240k guarantee for UDFAs is Brooks.  Suspect the Eagles like him.

The 90th guy probably isn’t those positions although you make a great point.   I keep hoping for a P.  I note that a lot of cuts by other teams in the last couple weeks have been LS and STers

I'd put money that Wentz has his best season since 2017.  Regardless of how people feel about him, he has talent.  He's also surrounded by the best overall group of weapons since he was drafted.  I think Wentz has a great year.

There’s a very real chance the Eagles finish 3rd in the NFCE this season only because of Hurts holding the roster back.

Even if they hang on to Barnett, you have Sweat, Barnett and Jackson.  They need serious help at DE.

Yeah no doubt.  They needed one this past draft and didn't get one.  They will need to try and get one next year.  All the more reason why it's in the Eagles favor for Hurts to take another step forward this season and solidify the job going forward.  Free up those two first round draft picks to try to get a blue chip pass rusher.

"It’s a fluid situation” — Adam caplan (probably)

The Eagles already won the Wentz trade.  He was flipped for much less 1 year later.  People would say "why did Indy trade him?”

I agree with the Eagles in that this was never about Hurts.  Once they realized Wentz wasn’t good enough, they got what they could (which was quite a bit).

I do agree that Wentz is much more talented than Hurts…but he’s still not enough.

Wentz wanted out of Philly. I used to back that guy 100%. Now? Since HE  wanted out of Philly...F_c_K him.

I’d argue they didn’t trade him because they realize he wasn’t good enough. He didn’t want to be in Philly anymore. Let’s not forget for a month after the season Adam schefter and some other reporters said they were trying to convince him to stay even though he was out (i believe there were also reports they did coaching interviews with the thought in mind carson would be the Qb and how to fix him). Schefter numerous times stated they wanted him to be here and didn’t want to deal him. It got to the point where they realized there was no way that was gonna happen and that’s when they saw they had to trade him.

If wentz said he wanted back in 2021, he’s likely the QB this past season.

Suggestions that talks on Sunday Ticket not going well.  That smells a bit like NFL balking.  Couple of ideas come to mind.  First is some pushback due to folks, like me, that subscribed to NFL Game Pass because it offers condensed games albeit not until after the live game is over.  I got tired of screen in screen and other options to maximize Sunday Ticket.  But if I were bidding on Sunday ticket, the value of all live games just isn’t that great.  More folks would buy Sunday Ticket, especially if they are out of the TV area, for their team but would prefer just their team.  I wonder if the talks are focused on what Sunday Ticket means and if they can sell just specific teams including in the TV area.

I know they were talking to Amazon in the past about you could purchased singular teams for like half the price of Sunday ticket. Don’t know what happened but I’d prefer it being on Amazon if they did that. I really want to watch the eagles games. Living in Arizona now, most of the time on tv i get the good nfl games as it doesn’t conflict with the cardinals. Sometimes even if it does still get it on cbs or fox (whichever the cards aren’t on)

He is right there will be SOME games but that was his issue. He is very talented but also mentally weak or tries to do too much. Some games he will look great and others will be the Jags game. Maybe he got some therapy or worked with a sports psychologist and will be great. That doesn't mean the Eagles could have kept him as you know.

Caplan is just telling a half truth. Wentz is a better QB than Hurts, but Hurts + running closes the gap. Wentz will make a few plays that will make you go "whoa” like he did every year here but will also throw left handed interceptions.

Don’t worry he’ll change it to fit his narrative either way and say it was a fluid situation.

Defenses adjust, though.  Lamar Jackson averaged 6.9 yards per rush in his 2019 MVP season, then down to 6.3 in 2021, and down to 5.8 yards per carry last season.

Hurts at 5.6 yards per rush seems like an attribute right now, but as defenses adjust to him those numbers aren’t going to get better — they likely won’t even hold constant.

And the answer is- because he wanted to be traded.

And while he is infinitely more talented than Hurts, hes not that much better (anymore). Something happened to him.

For every time those fans ask why Philly traded him, theyll have 2 more examples of why Indy traded him.

Something like this totally legal hit?!

Is Michael Thomas ever going to play again?  Seems like he hasn't played in 2 years and now this.

You’re last sentence is grasping at straws.  List all the reasons why Indy traded Wentz.  I don’t believe there was more to it than he’s not as good as Indy had hoped and their owner is a crackhead.

All the serious injuries ruined his mental state and I question he wants it anymore.

I'm taking about all the bad plays he will make.

This is why he's bad.
