In high school we learned that a ton of tv shows are based, twisted and massaged around old time English literature.  Specifically the Simpsons.

You can google and dive deeper. Lot of Charles Dickens themes also.

I also know that house of Cards, the netflex show was https://www.huffpost.com/entry/house-of-cards-shakespeare-_n_4823200

Yes lots of shows/movies etc are based on old stories/plays/novels. And certainly, the quality of the Simpsons in the last decade plus has declined. But I think calling it the laziest, most unoriginal show ever is just wrong. The early seasons were fantastic.

The Simpsons was excellent from 1988-1998 thereabouts.  It took a big hit when John Schwartzwelder stepped back from lead writer.  Over the next few seasons all of the best writers went on to better things, and the show lost the edge in its humor — almost became geared towards little kids and families.

After about 2001 I would watch entire episodes without even a grin, then gave up on it completely

I mean it's true.  From a statistical perspective, as a QB, Bridgewater is superior in every category.  In 2021, Bridgewater played in 1 less game but had 2 more TD's and 2 less INT's.

For his career, which is journeyman QB/borderline starter, he has better numbers than Hurts.

Teddy Bridgewater is Hurts ceiling but he's more in line with Tyrod Taylor

Which is what I mean earlier when I said teams are being lazy by just changing the shell to black.  At the very least they could have made the facemask silver/chrome.  At least the Saints tried and added that stupid stripe.  The Jets made the facemask green and changed the logo.

Just met Antone Davis at a resort in Florida.   Nice guy. :Eagle_smiley:

My assumption is the Eagles first round picks for 2023 will be similar to this year — somewhere around #17 and 20.  If the objective is to get a franchise QB, packaging those two picks in a trade would easily get them into the top 10, which should be all that is required.  I don’t see trying to trade up into the top 3 as the way to go; there are supposed to be 5-6 first round QB prospects for 2023.  Let the dumb teams take Stroud and Bryce Young in the top 5.  The better QBs will be available around #8-10 overall

Granted I wasn't smart enough to unveil an all black helmet on an all black background but I guess that's why they get paid the big bucks.

If there was a high school team called the Eagles and they had black as primary color, this would be a great helmet.  As the Philadelphia Eagles, this is a bad helmet.

If the idea is for the black helmet to complement the existing black third jerseys, then there should be a small tinge of green along the edge of the wing.

This is beyond lazy. It doesn't even really look THAT much different than the Midnight Green which is already a dark color.

Yup. We're in good shape no matter what.

So this adds to my conspiracy theory about the uniforms.

Jeff Lurie was the owner who brought the 2 helmet rule to the table a few years back in order to get the Eagles back in to Kelly Green.  This year, when the rule was changed, the Eagles somehow "missed the deadline" in submitting their Kelly Green uniforms.  Either it was a total miscalculation by an owner of a team who has a majority of the fans clamoring for KG uniforms or there's more to it.  How does the guy who wanted the rule changed for a specific uniform not have them submitted in time?

I think they are going with a full overhaul for 2023 going back to Kelly Green full time and a black alternate.  By not having any midnight green on the black helmet, it makes it easier for them to use this with KG accents next year.

For the past year or two, every PE social media account has been using a very Kelly Green like shade in the majority of their posts.  It completely clashes with the midnight green so I think they've been doing a soft transition.  Much like the new wordmark.  It's plain and bland but it makes it easy to transition from Midnight Green to Kelly Green.

nope, I mean this could have been the image they used to announce it.  It's why a white helmet, if no Kelly Green, would have been much better to pair wit their all white uniforms.

Interesting how they still have the old lettering/font on the front of the helmet.

The uniform font doesn't change until 2024...one more piece to a strange uniform/Eagles brand puzzle.

The new wordmark will not appear under the collar of the team's jerseys this season. The 2024 season will be the earliest the wordmark change will be reflected on the jerseys based on the timeframe of uniform changes, according to The Athletic's Zach Berman.

Honestly at first glance, you can't even tell if it's black or their normal helmet.
