Yes. Yes we can. If we can get a Josh Allen at any point relatively soon I don’t care about anything else.

Tall (6’3+), athletic, prolific college passer, plus (+) arm strength.  That’s still the formula.

P.S.  QB who actually throws the football more than runs with it.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Richardson had almost as many rushing yards as he did passing yards.

He was not good at all last season. Supremely overrated.

Need to see what he does this season, but no thanks as of now.

Maybe they'll just lower the standards to get into the hall.  5 good years as a RB and you're in the hall of fame.

This is what will happen.  Get used to seeing things like James Connor, HOF eligible.

A lot of pressure on Richardson to perform this year, the hype is getting out of control for him.

I took another look at CJ Stroud last night, because right now he and Bryce Young are the two guys with prolific numbers; the other top prospects have middling numbers so far and waiting to see which one, if any, takes a Joe Burrow-like jump this season.

A lot of off-platform and off-balance throws from Stroud.  A LOT.  Dislike his footwork, much like Zach Wilson.  An NFL QB coach has a lot of work to do on him.  The arm is there and the size is there.  Lots of production, but from a program with a terrible record of developing NFL QBs.  Wouldn’t be a top 10 pick for me unless his footwork gets cleaned up before the draft, and we’ll see how he performs without Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave this season.  Could be a Sam Howell drop-off year for him.

Bryce Young is a real mixed bag as a prospect.  Lots of plays where he leaves the pocket early and flushed out to his right (sounds familiar), but he does keep his head up and vision downfield much better than Hurts.  Looks to be a more accurate passer with a better delivery, but he’s only 6’0 tall and 195 lbs.  That’s a no for me for a QB who uses mobility as part of his skill set.

Sometimes he does well at getting the ball out on time and on script, but also lots of plays where he looks indecisive and cues up the scramble drill.  Could be he lacks the vision or the height to see the plays developing and lacks anticipation.

Again, not a top 10 pick for me.  Hopefully one of these other QB prospects has a breakout season in 2022.

These QB reviews worry me because I want a couple teams to draft QBs high and leave good  prospects for us to pick mid draft.
I’m hoping Will Levis is still on the board when we draft.

A top 10 pick at QB is only worth it if all boxes are checked.  If a QB is 6' and accustomed to running...2nd round unless it's Mike Vick.  And Bryce Young ain't Mike Vick.

Doesn't mean Bryce Young won't be a HOFer...but if you aren't perfect, it's better to ply the depths looking to coach up diamonds in the rough than it is to spend first round picks on prospects with real flaws.

I don't see him as a first round prospect.

What happened to the 2023 QB draft class being better and deeper than 2022?

Do we need to target 2024? Yikes.

Every QB throws it more than they run with it.

We need to see their final seasons, rarely is a QB cemented as A candidate for 1st overall before they play their last season in college. If Bryce Young came out this year, would be go before Thibodeaux? Ikwonu? Jags didn’t need a QB, does someone throw a draft hall at them for him? Is he worth 3-4 1sts based on what we’ve seen thus far? Sam Bradford would have gone 1st over Stafford if he didn’t stay for year 4. Trevor Lawrence was everyone’s pet cat back when he was a freshman… that’s not common.

Joe Burrow basically built his whole résumé for 1st overall on his final season. Someone will do that this year and we’ll have a better projection

The problem with the 2022 QB class was a lack of prototypical tall, strong arm, athletic QBs who were adept at processing information quickly.  It was mostly one read and run scramblers like Willis, Corral, and Howell during his last season at UNC.

The 2023 class offers better variety and depth.  After refraining from drafting QBs early this past draft, there are a lot of teams looking squarely at QB next April.  It’s likely 5 or 6 will get drafted in the first round.

Or Team Mother Nature as I call them.... Sky,  Sage, Fern, and yes, F****ing Aster..

Damn white kids…

The 2023 class is talented and deep, whether or not is mostly pro-ready or polished enough is another matter.

You basically have talented QB prospects that fit all types of QB profiles: statue pocket passer, tall mobile passer, poise and touch passer, gunslinger, raw A+ talent prospect etc.

I's all about how they develop this year, and then what kind of QB the team wants.

What about the 2030 class, I hear there’s talent in that class

Maybe Eagles can just join the LIV football league and get a QB from that class

Tyler Van Dyke (name aside) is going to be the best QB prospect from this class.

You’ll be dead of the clap by then, slappy

Arch Manning is the QB the Eagles should be long term targeting.

Coming around? I've been following Arch's career since after his freshman season in HS.  He won't be eligible for the draft until 2026 though.

John Edward Thomas Moynahan Brady should be the target in 7 years once Carson Strongs knee turns into a ramen noodle

Both Stroud and Young are mobile, but neither are running QB’s, not even close to Sam Howell, much less Justin Fields, as of now I’d take Fields over both of them. I’m not sure fans realize that Stroud is closer to Haskins, than he is Fields in terms of talent. Young might be a better pure passer, but besides his height being an issue, his arm isn’t great either.  I don’t get Saban, he gets giants for his O-Line, but midgets at QB, and none recently have had great arms.
The attraction the NFL has right now with QB’s under 6’2” is bizarre, only two that short have won SB’s in the last 20 years, and one is Drew Brees, one of the best pure passers ever, easily a HOF’er and Wilson may end up being one.
As you said, the 2023 draft does have some prototypical QB’s that can go through progressions and read a defense with good arms and dudes taller than 6’1”, like Levis, McCall, McKee, Van Dyke, Hooker, Jurkovec and a surprise at Washington St, Cam Ward.  Will Rogers is right at 6’1”-6’2”, like Dak from the same college, Rogers is getting slept on.
If McKee steps his game up this season w/o getting injured I think he’s the 3rd QB off the board if not the 2nd, he’s a big kid at 6’6” plus he’s mobile with a good arm.
