It's raining at practice today.  Remember that when the reviews come back on QB1.

Good think all of our games will be scripted like a joint practice and we will never play in bad weather.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

We (the EMB) currently sit at just over 940,000 posts. We're on pace for about 40,000 posts for the month of May. So it's looking like we'll break 1,000,000 posts within the first couple of weeks of J

The defense is just making play after play after play. Can't be mad at it. If the defense becomes more than adequate, we will have a pretty good season. Seems they are focusing on turnovers which is awesome

Awesome.  Our defensive clearly is the best in the league, evident by how they are dominating two great QB's in practice.

Hurts wouldn't have thrown that ball.

Dolphins and Browns don't stand a chance against the #1 joint practice defense.

4-0 here we come

For what it’s worth (I’m just catching up on the blog from being away this weekend) I would prefer we at least let strong compete for the starting job. Meaning, give him reps with the ones.

Hurts is a leopard, his spots aren’t changing. Time to move on.

Strong hasn't been doing much at all in camp.  I am not sure why the team would bank him being some sort of real starter.  In my view unless Strong plays better than Hurts there's no reason to start him.  You would just end up with a player at the position that leaves us with the same questions.

This is the most egregious decision by far.

Probably the most impressive play of any Shawn or Shaun Bradley to play in the city

Yep.  More draft pick justification by Lowie.

I mean it's like $8 million in dead money if they cut him.  I just hope they can find a way to trade him.

Don't see any tweets but Ritchie whose at camp said Hurts tucked and ran again on a 7v7

You refuse to acknowledge that 24-3 record against bad teams is EXTREMELY BETTER than 14-13 record against winning teams.

Of course it's going to be. 14-3 record against winning teams is also extremely better than any other young QB in the league other than Mahomes.  In fact both of those records would be better than any other young QB not named Mahomes.  You don't seem to comprehend that a winning record against winning teams is not a knock on Jackson, it's an attribute to him.

All that upside in him just giving him so much energy he had to run

I'm all for Hurts playing well. That would be great for the franchise.

Both AJ Brown and Bradley had to make impressive plays to pull it in. The difference, AJ shouldn't have to work that hard but his QB has bad ball placement and Bradley made an impressive play to intercept the ball. I know in your world it's the same thing, but one of these definitely shouldn't be happening as consistently as it's been

Good to hear Jordan Davis looks good. It's not a surprise.

I think Minshew has been picked off more times this training camp than he has his entire NFL career XD

Yep.  Iron hardens Iron.  I bet they have been motivated to improve by QB1.  Greatness begets greatness.

FWIW Dillard apparently came in looking like he has hit the gym.  Kempski said he is having a much better camp.

If Hurts was terrible last year (he wasn't), then we would have brought someone in. He was in the average to below-average range with upside, so he gets this year. If he doesn't improve, then he's not starting next year.

There's no upside going to Minshew, who couldn't do it with the Jags and has less physical tools than Hurts.

The most likely scenario is that Hurts is in the 20th best QB range, which is good enough to compete most weeks but not enough to compete for a SB...and he'll be replaced.

What upside as a QB has Hurts shown other than his running ability?  He doesn't have the awareness or pocket presence that Minshew has shown.  Minshew isn't the answer either but he puts the ball out there better for the receivers.  They might look like they float but he throws catchable balls.

My whole argument for Minshew over Hurts is the fact that Hurts doesn't use the whole field, will run rather than pass and is basically a one read QB.  What's the point in having 3-4 legit offensive targets for the QB if he doesn't go through his reads?

At the very least, Minshew would give Smith, Brown, Goedert and Watkins THEIR best chances at success.  I would much rather see the Eagles do whatever they can to get the most out of their last 2 1st round picks (1 for Brown included) and the financial investments in Goedert and Brown.  Every time Hurts checks 1 read and pulls the ball to run is 1 less opportunity for those guys.

Lots of Minshew tweets today
