I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

I'd agree about holding tight on Dillard if this was a SB year. If it was a SB year, depth is more important. But I don't think anyone here is thinking SB. This team won't reach that level until they get a capable QB and if I had to choose between getting a 3rd for Dillard now(or at the deadline) or letting him walk in free agency and maybe get a compensatory pick(depending on who they sign) I'm taking the 3rd rounder.

Sure. But if who is offering that right now? 4th rounder is the cut-off, as we'll likely get that in a comp pick. We won't get a 3rd round comp pick.

People were saying Strong was better than Hurts after being undrafted 😄

They said some of his passes and INTs were so bad, the defenders looked like they felt bad for picking off the passes. They didn't even celebrate. Said his accurate and everything was way off, and he looks light years away from being NFL ready.

I'm not saying any team is offering it. But people are saying they wouldn't take less than a 2nd rounder. I'm saying I'd take a 3rd. In a non-SB year, I'm for gambling on depth for moves that help the Eagles build for the future. Because of those trades come back to bite you, it's not like you're losing out on a Super Bowl window. The Eagles haven't opened that window yet. And won't til they find a franchise QB.

I supported signing Strong as a UDFA. He had the arm to make it interesting. He's playing so badly he'll make it to the PS.

I have seen this one before:

We saw the same thing last year. In Training camp he was catching one handed balls over slay for Td's and the talk was how much better he was.

I thought TC is where players went to get better and improve? Iron and all.  The book is written on him but not Hurts?  Hmm

And it is his first rookie season, and his 1st year in a new offense

I assume the Eagles are one of the teams, monitoring is Howie's specialty.

I’d bet the packers depending on how their rookies and guys look as training camp and preseason goes along. They’ve been in on him in the past

Maybe, just maybe, the point of the rep was the route, not the throw. Maybe, just maybe don’t have the QB get a tired arm early in TC by unnecessarily whipping a pass. Maybe, just maybe that is smart management.  BTW, same reason the receiver makes the catch and goes out of bounds rather than fighting for yards. You would have lasted five minutes in August two a days under the Texas sun for high school ball.

I am encouraged that there seems to be a concentration on broadening the field for Hurts and a time clock on his release this TC.

A lot of maybes there.  I'll go with the video evidence instead of maybes

Probably -- Hurts half-assed the rep and the throw.  Brian Johnson should have his arse for that effort level; accountability is for everybody

Definitely -- the Eagles aren't practicing in Texas, so Hurts' arch throws on out routes have no place on a professional football practice.  The throw belonged in high school.

No matter.  Hurts has no competition in training camp, but he becomes accountable on Week 1.

I think PS is likely at this point.

Bucs are dropping like flies

I would’ve said dillard could fetch value with the Bucs in a win now mode and if wirfs was out for the year. But smith plays LT. And wirfs at Rt. So dillard would be at RT unless they flip smith to Rt

Eagles will probably just go 2 QB's. If Strong clears waivers, add him to PS. If not, add Sinnett to PS. At this point I doubt both get claimed.

I don't think the plan is for Carson Strong to be starter or backup QB for 2022, nor should it be.

This should be a developmental year and an opportunity to get his knee right.

I think it’ll be psychological for him. Similar with Agholor. NA was supposed to come in and be Jeremy Maclin. Obviously that wasn’t going to happen. By his 3rd year he was not expected to be the #1 WR, primarily used in the slot, not expected to be a force down the field, had a better head for the game, etc.

Reagor was overdrafted just like NA. It was unfair to expect him to come in and be a #1 WR in the making. Let him work in the slot, give him some RAC opportunities, and his opportunities to stretch the field in 1on1 situations will be there.

Him and Quez competing for the #3 WR role is a very good problem to have.

Put Strong through a Ben Simmons off-season program.  Sit him in a chair and play video games for a year.  Maybe a entire year off and not moving will heal him.

Unlikely but possible having smith and brown ahead of him could makes less pressure for him to be the guy and perform to what expectations were when he was drafted. what they are now is we expect him to suck so maybe he plays better with the burden we expect him to be awful. Also his third year that used to be the rule for breakout year for WRs. That said it’s probably an outlier say in camp and he reverts back to what we’ve see in the past

If anyone did not support the Strong signing as a UDFA then they are a moron. Its just good overall to give a chance to as many QBs your can, esp for cheap.

If you had to pick between these two scenarios, which would you pick.

1) Cowboys have a good year, win the division, you don’t consider them favorites to make the Super Bowl though, but obviously could), and Eagles miss the playoffs. After the season, the Cowboys keep McCarthy, but the Eagles fire Sirianni and hire Sean Payton.

2) Eagles win division and make the playoffs, but do so in somewhat similar fashion to last season where Hurts doesn’t look great, and you don’t have much faith at all they can make any noise in the playoffs. Cowboys miss the playoffs, fire McCarthy and hire Sean Payton.

Scenario #2.

Always take the playoffs if you can.

I think your last sentence sums it up perfectly. Kaye has only been there two days, and other days have been pretty negative towards Reagor.

Sounds like they are trying to open teams eyes and look his direction for a cheap trade.

Eagles are one of those teams that always go 3 QBs but dress 2 during games. Don't see them taking the chance at another team snagging him off the PS either.

Aren't the Bears possibly shopping Teven Jenkins as well? Harder to get teams to pay desperation prices for an LT when there are several options.  Chances of us getting something worth trading Dillard for seems low but we'll see.

Oh i lean heavily to my last sentence. How likely is it he gets dealt? Don’t know. Guessing not very. but i could see a team trading for him  that’s giving up little to nothing that’s willing to take a chance at some point.
