Im assuming griner, I said nothing about Griner.

Just commenting on your boomer comment that if people don't like USA they're free to leave.

Boomer?  Jingoist yes, but boomer?

Given the national anthem was written by a slave owner who had some dubious lyrics (that are never sung), it's understandable that the descendants of slaves might not see it as their "national anthem."

"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."

I am always skeptical of those who put more weight on the trappings of patriotism (the flag, the anthem) than the substance of patriotism (serving your country, paying your taxes, etc.).

"Taxation is the price which we pay for civilization, for our social, civil and political institutions, for the security of life and property, and without which, we must resort to the law of force."

The country is not a flag, it is a nation, composed of people. Those who demand that it live up to the pledge "with liberty and justice for all" are greater patriots, because they want the country to be in substance what it portends to be in symbols. Now one can disagree what constitutes liberty and justice, without denigrating those who strive to realize their vision for the country.

The term "best” is entire subjective and a matter of opinion, so I really don’t care when people say something is better than another. What bothers me is when people say factually or objectively false things about America in relation to other countries. It’s usually, but not always, from very young or naive people who know nothing about the world or its history. You see it a lot with the "stolen land” nonsense, which is about as dumb as it gets, as every piece of land on earth was conquered by one tribe, empire, or government at one point or another. And people are generally too lazy to actually read history, they just parrot talking points from people they’ve chosen to believe(who unfortunately also happen to be not very bright and spread bad information).

It's not entirely subjective and matter of opinion.

One can compare the US to other countries and what they are best at

Fir Instance the US leads the world in a few categories, meaning we are the " Best" at those particular things

We have more guns/ capita than any other country produce and export more guns than any other country, when it comes to owning selling producing guns the US is Numero uno!

The US drops more bombs than any other country in the world and you can rest easy at night knowing your taxes pay for that whether you like it or not. yay USA🇺🇲 we also are number 1 in the world in military spending as we spend more on military than the next 12 countries combined...

The US jails or imprisons more of their own citizens than any other country, were number 1 at imprisoning our own,a large number of them in for profit prisons, that's right here in the good ole USA people make profit off of putting people in prison( mostly black and brown folks) WE'RE #1🇺🇲

And one more thing we're number 1 in though I'm sure there are a few more I'm missing.

The US is number one in the world in health care spending! Awesome right??? One would think except that we have far worse health outcomes and lower life expectancy than many other countries that spend far less and pay less for healthcare. Out of 32 developed countries the US is the only without a universal healthcare system, I guess we're number 1 in not being able to figure out affordable accessible effective healthcare.🤷‍♂️

So While one can say calling a country as a whole is the best is subjective what that country does or doesn't do best is not.

Another portion of Howie's interview on NFL Radio I found interesting was they asked him about the decision to acquire AJ Brown and pay him 4 years/$100M.  They mentioned teams like the Chiefs and Packers dealing away premium WR with contract demands, and other teams like the Eagles paying out the top dollars at WR.  Howie immediately responded that the QB being on a rookie contract was the main determining factor in that decision -- mentioning the Eagles, Niners and Dolphins all have QBs on their rookie deals.

When Hurts comes up for an extension to be paid in 2024 it got me to thinking about what the Eagles cap would look like, and how a Hurts extension would impact that.  Pencil Hurts in at $40M+ (he's not signing for less at the current market, never mind a year from now).  There are quite a few Eagles players who start to become big cap hits in 2024:

Brown $27.7M, Mailata $21M, Reddick $20.2M, Goedert $19.5M, Sweat $18.7M, Lane $13.5M, Maddox $10M.  Obviously there will be some restructuring and "can-kicking" that will be done to free up space, and it's 'fortunate' in Hurts' context that there isn't anybody from the 2019 or 2020 draft class that will warrant a big extension going on the books.  It does make me wonder what type of decisions would have to come immediately afterward, though, if DeVonta Smith and Landon Dickerson become core players -- and how the diminished cap room could impact things.

There was a point where I'd say there was no freaking way Howie gives Hurts a contract if he doesn't significantly improve his passing ability

After the Murray contract I'm now not sure

The first year of his extension will be pretty cheap. So the issue from a cap perspective is 2025.

I love that the coach supports his players wearing their Tshirts.

He was given a contract knowing he has work ethic problems. His stats aren't worth it to begin with either. He never hit 4k yards

If a team is willing to give a mega contract with those red flags then I could see Hurts getting one sadly

He also has a nice Christmas gift in the mail

Cute, but I mean America hating a-holes. Sure, we can have some, but when it gets to a level of destroying our country it's time to do some cutting to save the vineyard.

Also, learn your history or watch Roots. They mostly sold their own people into slavery. I fixed your misspelling for imprisoned as well.

Interesting. It swayed me in the opposite direction. He's not worth the contract and Cardinals did a dumb move that set them back for the next 5+ years from ever winning. He's talented but not enough to warrant that contract. Hurts is not talented enough as is to warrant a contract like that and I don't see Howie making that mistake.

What would they have rather done, practice when it’s 65 degrees?  It’s not like it was a really long or intense practice today.  You can’t have it both ways.

I’m not complaining that they had practice. It’s the fact that he likes the heat and says that it prepares them and helps bond them.

She won't be there long.  Biden will have to pay a steep price to get her back, but he'll eventually cave.  Not that he gives a crap about her.  He wants the votes.  It's all about the optics.

Look, Nick has a hard job. He has to smile, and say things, and act like these are his choices while someone else tells him what to do. It's not easy.

I'm curious if Lamar will get a mega deal because he has that mvp years ago but doesn't do well in the playoffs

2025 cap is projected to be 272.2 million.

Eagles currently have 214.3 million in current cap liabilities.

So today, they have 57.8 million in 2025 cap space.

That is with 35 players under contract.  Here is the depth chart for 2025 currently.

Taking away the guys bolded in red who will probably not make the roster this year, the Eagles would have 24 players under contract for 2025 with 66.7 in cap space.

The Ravens to this point appear tied to Lamar, but he may save them with his own greed.

RGIII (who has been close to Jackson) says the reason Lamar hasn't negotiated a long-term extension yet is because he wants to wait as long as possible while the price goes up through other QB extensions.  Sounds like a fine strategy, unless he suffers another injury this season where he misses significant time.  If he doesn't care where he signs his extension (gets traded, etc.) then it's minimal risk.  If he wants to remain in BAL it's much more risky.  Another season cut short by injury might persuade the Ravens to walk away and take another QB in the draft.

What happens to his specialized contract if he gets suspended for more than 1 season? I know his contract was structured that if he was suspended this season then it wouldn't really impact the money much
