I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Dick vermeil is an older version of Steve Mariucci in terms of train of thought.

So because UCLA beat Ohio state the eagles ownership flew to California and stayed for four days in order to convince him to take the Eagles job.

edit: made a poor error.

UCLA

If I’m half as active and lucid at 85 as dick vermeil is I’ll take it now.

We are going to be saying that quite a few times in the regular season

I had us losing to Lions week 1, everyone thought I was crazy.

I had us going 2-4 in the first 3rd of the season. People keep forgetting that the second half of the season last year we played most teams backups and even practice squad players. This year will be worse then last year. Defense will keep us in it at times, If the Eagles go heavy run offense again after Hurts struggles we might break even like last year if we are lucky. Brown is a great add on but Hurts being predictable will result in more INTs forcing it to Brown(his first read)

Sounds about right….

This is babble

chromosomes are how we describe the superstructure of the dna. Trying to parse gene from chromosome is nonsense. we have known chromosomes for ages. Of course we are into sequencing more but still baffled at much of the non coding regions and whether they are regulatory or not. Plus you have epigenetic modifications that wont show in sequencing.

Davis will be a mismatch against everyone he faces. I believe his impact on this team will be greater than anyone picked anywhere in the draft.

Glad to hear Opeta is having a good camp. He's the strongest lineman we have but has had balance issues. Yes, I'm serious, stronger than either Davis or Mailata. I don't believe he ever played OL until his sophomore year in college, though I may be wrong. He came here very raw but Stoutland has a lot to work with. I think he's moved ahead of Driscoll at RG, which is why Driscoll has only been working at RT.

When you look at Opeta's workout, you can see why he was an interesting UDFA.

5.02 40, 39 reps, 33" VT, 9'4 LJ, straight line athlete with upper body strength, leg explosion, but his cone and short shuttle exposed a guy with limited lateral agility, and it has shown in games. A guy with speed to pull down the line, but he'll probably always struggle with COD at the 2nd level.

I suspect Stoutland has ridden him hard on foot work, you can't turn him into an agile athlete but you can get him to set his feet properly where he can use that strength.

I thought Watkins was a speedster. Slay can keep up with him?

Speed is Slay's greatest asset.

🤣

Has anyone been following other teams camps? I'm curious how guys like Kyle Hamilton, Malik Willis, London, Olave, Burks, Pickett, etc are looking.

Side note: apparently Goff loves throwing to DJ Chark and that connection has been really good in their camp. Something to note for week 1. I know people wanted DJ Chark for the Eagles, my ncluded. Wasn't close to my top guy, but think he was a very good value signing for them compared to what other guys got. Would rather have him outright than Kirk. Will likely get a nice deal after this season with a team not named the Lions.

I’ve heard that Hamilton has struggled in coverage, that London has been very good, and that Pickett has been disappointing.  I know nothing about the other guys you mentioned.

Olave and Burks have been pretty good, especially Olave.

Hamilton as mentioned earlier has struggled in coverage.

Willis is struggling.

London has been good.

Haven’t read about Pickett.

Bold strategy considering his history and coming off an injury-riddled season.

George Perkins will put up better numbers than any Eagle WR this year. Sounds like he’s dominating.

I’ll bet you George Perkins does not.

Agreed

Johnson, Claypool and the TE will all get targets, and the entire group will be held back by Trubisky or Kenny two gloves

Reuben Frank has been super pissy about people saying Hurts is struggling at camp. He then proceeds to give him a C+.

Pickett has been awful from the few snippets I’ve seen.

George Perkins fault probably

He’ll do a pfref filtered search that shows Hurts’ preseason numbers look similar to Joe Namath’s regular season numbers or something.

Haven’t really read anything good about these guys other than Covey and Blankenship.

Kennedy Brooks style of running really won’t show in unpadded practices.  Waiting to see how he does in PS games. Same with Sills.  1 on 1s favor the DL.

Dunkle, Sills, Strong, Fayad and all three of the CBs were not signed with any expectations beyond developing on the Practice Squad.  Covey, Blankenship and Brooks all have a different level of opportunity because of roster flaws ... our return game has sucked, we didn't resign Jordan Howard (but still could probably after Week One), and Safety is the weakest position on the team.  Practice Squad is now up to 16 slots (17 if you include Matt Leo).  That is the proving ground for the pipeline of the future.  Think back on what was being said about Sua Opeta his first camp ... or even Mailata his first camp.  For a developmental Offensive Lineman is there a better place to be than on the Eagles Practice Squad?

Never going to forget when he said Hurts completion percentage in his first 10 starts compares favorably to Johnny Unitas.

The good: Despite good coverage from Darius Slay, Hurts threw a really nice pass with zip and touch to A.J. Brown for a would-be touchdown had the receiver not dropped it. UPDATE: As I was writing this article, Brown tweeted (and then deleted) that Slay broke up the pass. (So, if he’s correct, then maybe not the best throw if Slay could get a hand on it?)

This team pays way too much attention to all the outside noise.

Eh we knew this about Brown going in. Still a stud on the field, so you can live with it. Reagor on the other hand? GTFO
