I've heard that Lawrence has looked significantly better than he did last season. Throwing motion is tight and consistent. His pre-game workout at the HOF game was supposed to be excellent, where as last year he was very spotty in pre-game throwing sessions.

Lawrence was overrated in college, but I was somewhat impressed with him as a rookie. Its almost beyond imagination how bas his OL was. He was making every throw under pressure. And occasionally, he made some really nice plays.

He has a chance to develop with some protection.

They spent a ton of money and probably a lot of signings wont look so great in a few years. But it was wise to bring in as much help as possible as quick as possible to help the guy out before he got Carr'd.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Well i think people on here trashed him last year but he was an actual rookie. Unlike those claiming hurts was basically a rookie. hurts still benefitted from having doug for an entire year, a year in the nfl and some games to prepare him for year 2 unlike Lawrence who went to a complete dumpster fire team (eagles were no where close to that bad), had no nfl game preps before playing a game and no year in the league to learn at the nfl level or workout at the nfl or know what to expect off their bat. Hurts was inexperienced but not a rookie. Lawrence had inexperience and was an actual rookie.

He handled himself very well through the whole Meyer debacle too.

I'd say throw in Hurts too....but they're pretty set with Carter and Hall.

I wouldn't know. I thought even through your third rookie season there's not a big jump

TLaw has a new coaching staff though. Gotta give him like 3 more years now to get used to it.

Obviously media reports of Lawrence getting better are not to be believed. The true test is whether or not their fans see improvement on his fundamentals based on twitter clips.

What does this mean?

How could Lawrence improve when he will be with his 4th different coach and 3 different offenses in 3 years?

It means not one single Philly beat writer has reported that Hurts has improved his pocket awareness, field vision, throwing mechanics, understanding of the playbook, processing ability, or pass distribution skills .... so there can't be any other QBs around the league who are actually putting in the work to get better at the things they need to get better at.

Oh. I guess I should have known it was a Hurts reference

Jalen Hurts is poised to make the Matt Flynn leap

Cool.

Let's trade him and watch him crash and burn with another team.

Year three in the league. Still running right. Still throwing off target. Still doing stupid things in the pocket.

No Philly beat writer has said anything close to that about Hurts. Even his biggest supporters biggest endorsement is "he's having a C+/B camp", so he's salty.

You *******

JALEN HURTS STOCK REPORT: It wasn’t really an active day for Hurts as a passer. Eliot Shorr-Parks had him down with 10 completions on 12 attempts, which looks pretty good! But his passing total was probably, like, around 70 yards? If that much? It couldn’t have been very high. I would guess his yards per attempt was around 6.0 (that’s low!) at most with there being a lot of short passes.

Today just wasn’t the best day to learn a lot about Hurts’ development. He once again threw to A.J. Brown a lot. He didn’t make any major mistakes. He also didn’t do anything especially flashy or impressive at all. Multiple reporters and fans that I talked to thought it was neither a stock up or stock down day, leaving one option ...

You’re so damn insecure and redundant  , it’s comical .

How dare our QB throw too much to the #1 WR. No elite QBs do that. None.

Your first mistake is making a false equivalency between Hurts and elite QB's.

Mahomes throws no look passes. Should Hurts try that too?

Actually no. Most good QBs have favorite targets. Only a handful of QBs throw no-look passes.

Good QB's with favorite targets =/= limited QB's limiting themselves more.

At least you sorta get the point. Just because some elite QB's can throw no-look passes doesn't mean everyone should try. Just like there's other things elite QB's can get away with that others can't.

It's not Jalen's fault. He can only make one read y'know. Brown is so much bigger than the other WRs, makes sense he's locked into him.

Soooo...is this the year JJAW is cut? Listed now as a TE, but Stoll, Calcaterra and Goedert all ahead of him. Can't make it in a suddenly crowded WR room....is there a spot for him?

Sure. What could go wrong? 🤷‍♂️

Stoll will get hurt during a PS game. Calcaterra will have a setback with his hammy. JJAW will be on the 53 like the herpes he is.

Interesting.  4-3.  I think this defense is going to be up and down this year, not because it doesn’t have good players, because it does.  It’s just it doesn’t have the right parts for a 4-3 or a 3-4.

I think it would be more accurate to call what most take as a 3-4 to be a 5-1. For that, our base defense, we have superb personnel.
