The defense is the big question mark, last season 25th in DVOA, 18th against the run, 25th against the pass.

Instead of some stupid metric that someone changes the facts to fit an agenda, yards per play allowed is a real metric.  Eagles were 7th in yards per play allowed.

They were 18th in PPG allowed at 22.6 PPG, right behind the AFC champion Bengals at 22.2 PPG.

They were 11th in points scored, problem is 9 of the teams ahead of them scored more points and made the playoffs.

As I have already proven, and I will run it back a couple more years, you are more likely to have playoff success as a top 10 passing offense, even more so than if you are a top 10 in total offense.

You are adding running tds and yards again.that is where you keep getting confused. Most who evaluate quarterbacks don't use them to build our cases when talking about quarterbacks. It can be used as a tie breaker, but not the sole reason a player is better . Ty for keeping the Madden franchise alive though

I'm inclined not to put as much value into Hurts' rushing stats because he and Sanders had the same yards per carry last season (5.6 and 5.5).  To me it says any QB could have just handed the ball to his RB and achieved the same results.  I'll qualify that to give Hurts credit for his rushing TDs, seeing how Sanders didn't have any -- although Scott/Howard/Gainwell had 15 rushing TDs between them..

The two games Hurts didn't dress for last season the Eagles ran the ball 74 times for 334 yards.  That's 167 rushing yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry -- that's a very prolific rushing offense without even involving the QB.  Taking out Minshew's 9 carries for 21 yards and the RBs averaged 4.8 yards per carry.

So... Hurts is below average for the full season.  Good to know.

Yup.

But Howie is somehow "bad" at his job.

As expected. Hurts (so far) is a top 20 overall QB. More than good enough as a stop gap, but not a franchise QB.

I've been saying for months that hurts cost Sanders money. It's hurts choice in this offense to hold on to the ball or to hand it off and he called his own number quite a bit. It's one of the things that soured me quickly on the kid. I was watching a faster Tebow, but watching the fan base ignore it all like dolphins fans did during their wildcat season. Nothing about last year is sustainable and other than his legs, nothing looked like an asset on the field. Can he grow? Sure, but the arrogance about tweaking his game during his interview makes we question if he wants to. At the 5:20ish mark from his last interview he was asked if they helped tweak anything with his delivery and he gave a dismissive laugh and said nah.... Sorry. That's a response of someone who doesn't see weakness in his game.

As discouraging as it is to lose all these folks after 2 consecutive good offseasons, I'd imagine any blue chip young scout would fall over themselves to join the Eagles FO.

He didn‘t hit on all picks. Terrible!

Wonder how many QBs are better in their first full season. Not to mention new coach, new system and a team with more holes than swiss cheese.

Good FO or no they still picked Jalen Reagor & many other duds. Yes, last year's draft finally looks good.  And while people are happy about this draft we haven't seen one second of play from any of these guys yet.

Mahomes, Wilson, Mac Jones, Murray, Jackson, Herbert, Brady, Big Ben, Winston, Minshew, Burrow, RG3, Andy Dalton, Carr, Foles...need more?

At this point it can be argued if Davis, Dean, or Jurgens bust then that responsibility lays with how they are/are not coached, rather than the process the FO used to select them.

The 14 of 16 players from the 2016-17 drafts not on the roster, Andre Dillard, JJAWful, Reagor, using a 1st round pick on a WR in three consecutive drafts, cap limitations and consecutive years leading the league in dead cap agree with this statement.

Took us forever to win it and that's the trajectory we are on again

OMG :roll::roll: Aqib Talib is the worst.  I am sure the NFL Execs realize this and he will never get a lead announcer gig.

I like Talib. Yeah his delivery is a bit unpolished but the content of what he says way better than most of em. Dude has some great insight.

Top 7 franchise in overall wins and top 5 franchise in playoff wins over the last 21 seasons.

Depends how far back you go, since the SB they are 31-33-1, while having the worst team in the NFL (Giants) in their division and a bottom 6 team (Washington).
The Browns in that time are 32-32-1.
You could say the anomaly is the 4-11-1 season for the Eagles, but these past few years since the SB have been one of the worst stretches of football in Giant’s history.  No matter how you look at it, since the 2018, the Eagles have been mediocre at best.

I love this visualization.  Basically 3 + types of QBs: consistently good, consistently bad, and the inconsistent guys (those that got better & those that got worse).

Please elaborate on "trajectory".

What trajectory was evident during the 2017 offseason?  What about the trajectory during Andy's tenure?

Nah, I'm not going to elaborate on "trajectory" in the way that you are asking you're smart enough to figure that out for yourself. I'll be happy for our one super bowl win that took my lifetime to accomplish. The Superbowl winning coach is gone and most of the players that made that happen for us, the cap is screwed up, we don't have a quarterback, or a defense to speak of.  Yes the super bowl was great , I don't have 50 more years to wait for another.

Hopefully this is sarcasm. Surely a team can't have more holes than "swiss cheese" with a great GM like Howie.

As if moaning here would change that.

But I am amazed how negative someone can see our team right now.
