Doesn't have to be the same. You either care about protecting women and their rights in society or you don't. If you pick and choose only select aspects of that in which you care about, then you don't actually care as much as you're letting on.

People who go on social media tangents do it performatively the far majority of the time. It's to bring attention to one's self and showing they're "on the right team" more than actually caring about these issues.

Yeah, a dude beating a chick at sports is the same as sexual assault

If you're betting on pre-season games, get help.

Starters don't shake the rust off by playing a quarter or half in a pre-season game three weeks before the first real game.

Teams don't even use a big chunk of their offense and defensive schemes in pre-season games, because they don't want to give film to their first few opponents.

The advantage of scrimmages is you play another team but the rest of the league doesn't get to watch.

who the hell said I was betting on pre-season games?  I've never placed a bet in my life.

Right, the Eagles starters will shake off rust during the first 3 weeks of the season.

In respect for the All Caps that were added to the thread title earlier this week, I'll refrain from responding to your conflicting views, and simply ask you to take them to CVON.

Zappe is looking better than Hurts.

Thanks for stopping by. Really added some value here.

You misread his post. There was plenty of value there ... and a sincere sharing of props.

The first Q of the first game.

I mean they've been practicing for over a month, do fundamental drills (muscle memory), walk throughs (visualization), they're in top shape going into camp these days.

They'll have four scrimmages where they get a lot more reps than a quarter of an exhibition game.

Scripted reps where they know what the situation is after each play.  Games are unpredictable and ever changing.

Brandon Smith looking good for the Panthers. Just sacked Zappe on 3rd down. Has a TFL.

People act like preseason is so important. College football doesn't do preseason. Pros can manage without it.

college football kinda does. most of the major schools play a bunch of D3 schools for at least the first 3 weeks.

It's the regular season though, but I see your point

and, thats probably because they are limited by the school calendar.

But their workaround seems to be, shake off the rust by beating up on little guys before you get in to your conference schedule. Thats basically their pre-season.

I dont think we will ever see Hurts lose his helmet trying to tackle a DB going for the end zone. That kind of effort, intangibles. Unparalleled. Hurts cant even match that.

Some teams play D3 schools early, some step into it right away. I'm not saying preseason can't be beneficial, but it's not like they don't practice for 5-6 weeks during camp to get ready. Some people overrate a few series in preseason.

I'm watching.  He's playing against the scrubs from the Panthers.  And he JUST threw the ol pick 6 🤣

He didnt throw a pick 6 when you said he wasnt looking better than Hurts.

He was. And still is. He showed passion on that pick 6.

Zappe, like Geno Smith last night, is having dimes dropped by scrubs. If we had Zappe at QB we would be a legitimate contender.

Why do the majority of college teams schedule an easy win in week 1?

Normally, I wouldn't be banging down the door for the starters to play in the pre-season.  The issue I and I think many others have is that Jalen Hurts is FAR from a finished product and needs all the work he can get.  It goes back to him being handed the job with no competition.  I want Hurts out there working in a live game to be the best that he can be, to work through old habits and develop new ones to be a more complete QB and so on.

On top of that, this is Sirianni's 2nd season as a head coach with the starters.  I think any game situation he faces with them in there only helps as well.

If we want Hurts to be the best he can be, the more live action he sees, the better.
