I wasn't reading the question as if the starter were removed from playing ... essentially how well do they fill their role as backups (2nd stringers) rather than how well do they fill the role of starter if called upon to do so.

Regarding Safety, I do agree that the gap between starters and backups is much less, but a huge part of that is because the Safety starters aren't even close to Goedert in quality.

What is your point?  Our backups played well in a game against other backups.  Vincent Jr. was the only DB that really struggled yesterday.

Davis looks great but he's done nothing yet.  I mentioned using tempo.  In week 1 of the season against the Eagles who clearly look sloppy, the Lions O-Line could wear the Eagles down.  

D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams is a very good tandem.
