Ok, totally off any topic that anyone in here is talking about but this seems like just as good a thread to tell this story as any, so I'll post it in here.

So, as everyone may know, my mother has lung cancer and has had some strokes (which she's had near full recovery from). Her oncologist of the past 2+ years, decided that she no longer wanted to give her any treatments. Not because it wasn't working (it is), but because the doctor didn't think that my mother's 'quality of life' was good. So we switched to a new oncologist, who thinks that the determination of 'quality of life' is best left to the person living that life.

Anyway, she's been on the new chemo for about a month. I noticed that the nurse that administers the transfusion, had a Patriots logo on her cart of supplies. So I pointed to it and asked if that was hers. To which, she said yes.

Well, I just so happened to be wearing a Super Bowl LII Champions hat, so I kind of tugged in the brim and winked at her lol She said "I know... I noticed it last week. But don't worry, I'll still be nice to your mom anyway!"

Another nurse chimed in and said... well, you don't even want to know who my team is. I almost said "Just as long as it isn't the Cowboys!" but before I could say it, she said "Dallas..." lol

God Bless your Mom!  Hope she's responding well to the treatment.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Thanks. She has, plus it's a very slow progressing cancer. She was off chemo for 6 months and it only grew about a tiny, tiny amount.  But we don't want any growth, so she's back on chemo now.

Thanks, it's stage 4, so they say that they can control it but not destroy it.

Glad to hear they have some control on it and that your Mom has an on oncologist that is listening to her. Most frustrating thing I had to deal with when dealing with my mom and my sister was medical doctors that wouldn’t listen or consult.  Thankfully the nurses did.

How can Cosby be on PUP yet completing sets of kicks.  That’s practice for a kicker, isn’t it?

The Packers worked out five kickers Monday, but veteran Mason Crosby remains on track to return in time to play the season opener.

Crosby still is on the active/physically unable to perform list following offseason knee surgery.

"I’m hitting all the marks,” Crosby said after Tuesday’s practice, via Bill Huber of SI.com. "As of right now, this is six weeks out [from surgery], so that was kind of the goal was to be progressing and kicking more at this point. I hit a set inside today and felt really good. I’m just going to keep building off of that. The goal is obviously to be full-go and ready to go by Week 1.”

Yeah, the other oncologist started day 1, minute 1 by saying "we can just put you on hospice, you don't HAVE to treat the cancer...". We should have switched then, but we're happy where we are now.

Anyone else listening to Miami/Ft Lauderdale police scanners? No Eagles news yet

Its tough because many people cant handle the costs and deal with the side effects for treatment that likely only buys them weeks. Thats where the "quality” comes in.

Another post I suppose will be characterized as snarky.

We ran a lot of 4-2 fronts or 2-4 fronts, if you prefer, and the Browns ran right at us and we couldn't stop it with the light front. That may change with first stringers but is cause for concern. We got excellent pressure with the 4i front, however.

Which is why you have to be careful drawing conclusion in PS, Gannon may have run these fronts to test individual players, putting them in bad situations and see how they handle it.

Or he may be experimenting with different looks.

That is my point.  You guys analyze things in a snarky way like the rest of us have no idea how football is played, how offensive line play works.

JustRelax was describing what he saw when he reviewed the first half. He's been commenting on line play for a couple decades or so.

If you can't follow, maybe you should be less adamant about your football opinions.

Good stuff, JR.  Reminds me of the two way conversations you used to have with D20.

I loved those misdirection pulls.  Sure looked like a running play. Then, boom, hit the slant with only a couple of defenders still on that side.  Could be a thing of beauty with a YAC star like Brown.  That’s a combination of Stout and what we heard last year about Sirianni when he  was hired.  The set up looked like a RPO but I suspect that was part of the disguise.

The only thing that bothered me was the illegal man downfield call on Jurgens on the RPO.  I mean, I really doubt that call was accurate and if it was, it wasn’t more than a foot. But it shows that passes on the RPO have to come out fast.  The same is true with those misdirection pulls.

That's also the limitation of the RPO passes, if the defense guesses right, you have to pull it down because you can't look for a second receiver because these are timing plays - so when Hurts runs on those plays it's because he's supposed to, if your primary target is covered, there is no secondary target.

That’s kind of the way I have seen it with Jackson.  If they like Calcaterra and Jackson isn’t complete in his development at TE, leave him on PUP.  He gets to attend the meetings and rehab, he just can’t practice.  But when allowed to come off PUP, he gets to practice for 21 days before they have to IR him for the season or activate. And this season, the minimum time on PUP has been shortened from six weeks to four.  Now, it used to be that after the sixth week a club had six weeks to activate a player, put a player on IR or release a player.  With the shorter four week PUP minimum, I can’t figure out if that period is still six weeks (requiring a decision by week 10) or if the decision still has to be made by week 12.  (Slynch would know.) I don’t think this impacts the Jackson decision as much as the Toth decision.  If I were Howie, I would PUP/Reserve both of them as they both showed some promise last season.

By week ten, a lot can happen with regard to injuries - so the option of using them or stashing them has real value.

I didn't think his run fits were good last year either. He also loves to play guys out of position (Sweat as 4i). He has better personnel this year, so let's hope for better. But if it takes having a 340 lb athletic anomaly like Jordan Davis to run his defense, I'm not so sure his scheme is very good. People looove to talk about how everything will work now with Jordan Davis. If it does, that's more of a credit to Davis than it is the DC.

yup...JR's takes are top notch and are always welcomed. He is obviously talking over the room troll's head. He should stick to playing with his football cards and listening to Jim Rome...the dude's got nothing better to do with his life than disparaging the Eagles.

The issue is, the pillars act like they are posting things we don’t know about.

I don’t claim to know a lot of things but I believe I understand offensive line play. I post on it. Played it. Coached it. Studied if for more years than you’ve been alive. Posted about it here for two decades. If you don’t like it pass over. If you read it, you might learn something or if you disagree you might contribute something worth reading. I claim nothing but my enthusiasm and what I see. I am not the last word.

All you contribute on this subject is being aggressively stupid. And insulting.

You are part of what someone else refers to as a gang. To which I concur.

You offer nothing of substance.

I'm about 20 minutes in to the Manti T'eo Netflix show and are they really trying to pass off the catfisher as a victim here?

You clearly don't know anything about the intricacies of OL play...you have to look it up or get someone's opinion...the Blog has always been about intelligent and thoughtful discussion, something you have distorted and diluted...you are the closest thing to Douglas704 we have seen

I’ll be frank and thank you for putting it so plainly. You don’t know. What’s upsetting is that you don’t want to know.

My issue with your gang, any time someone posts a conflicting viewpoint backed up by data, you either ignore or use the I don’t engage gotcha posters routine.

That is why you guys catch so much flack from so many in here.  Any time we have tried to discuss with you, you act like we are beneath you.

Probably goes too far. Afan is the one spamming nothingness. People tire of it but you care for the fossil.

i do enjoy the scheme banter having played lb and S (with the occasional rush end but i admit thats far less cerebral)

i still think fondly back on our discussions on chip kellys scheming and how it initially destroyed all the visual run keys for the lbs. would have been damn hard not to get caught flat footed…

i am curious to see if our schemes evolve from last year or if thats all they are

And so you see it as your job to knock people down...to reduce things to the lowest common denominator....because you are too insecure to admit you don't know things

Irony thy name is aptos

No, I have brought legitimate factual things to the table, and all those outside of the inner circle get is crickets, or the I don’t engage gotcha posters routine.

Would be refreshing to see a pillar admit they are wrong once in a while.
